I went with an '07 RFS 450/525/560 chassis. It's all KTM, minus the motor, pipe and silencer.

Kick starter length question...

Does anyone happen to know if a cr250 kicker is shorter than a cr500 kick lever? I ask because I recently added a clark 3 gallon tank to the KTM500 project bike and the top of the kick lever interferes with the bottom of the Clark tank...

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance! JT

I wonder if it would be possible to use a '99 CDI with corresponding plugs in place of the Service Honda digital CDI, as it really looks like the '99 backing plate, coils and pickup are identically situated.

Anyone think so?

It's the other way around sir. You have to put the CR500 motor into the KTM frame!

This is really unfortunate! I was chomping at the bit to pick up the lighting coils that Mike said he was planning on building, which hopefully are still in the works. In other words, while some of you have had unpleasant experiences with TTM, given the quality if his work, I really hope that things...

I've done 4 motors and never replaced those bearings... its a bitch getting the glass bead out of there after blasting, but no reason to replace them. I used a large amount of brake wash and compressed air to get those bearings clean and upon assembly, they worked very smooth. I saw no reason to re...

You could use a CR250 lighting stator from Electro Sport as they appear to be a direct bolt in. They only supply about 50 watts of power though.

A side by side comparison would be interesting. I guess I could dig the CR frame out of the garage this weekend and find out. Otherwise, the motor really was kind of a tight fit into the 560SMR frame. So I went out for a quick 'test and tune' around the neighborhood this evening and the mother fucki...

Most definitely! I was just using that particular silencer to work out some fitment issues and to get the bike running.

Hey Chris! Very cool project you have going there! BTW, did you have your cases and cylinder media blasted by the same machinist that welded up your mounts? I had that same shop blast my cases and press in the new crank bearings. In so few words, they did a supremely shitty job; there was blasting m...

Let me see if I can even leave this guy any feedback as it was many weeks ago that I received the crank. I'll certainly look into it. Funny thing is, I think my other crank is still in spec, if I measured properly it's at about .038". I'd bought this one off Ebay on a whim as a backup.

So I bought a supposedly serviceable crank off Ebay

And when I measured thrustwasher-counterbalance clearance, I found that it measured .043". The service limit is .040". I also noticed that the drive sprocket collar had a sizeable groove in it, indicating that the crank has more hours on it than advertised, which will doubtlessly cause spo...

Oh shit, wrong forum.

So it sounds like the Honda can is the way to go. Other than stock Honda packing material, are there any other recommendations?
