you can keep your coil, '97-99 setups work just fine, but '97 has a electronic powerjet, so there are a couple extra wires. not sure abotu the gen-1 backplate though. took like 10 minutes to modify my '03 back plate with a drill press and a 1" hole saw.

Gen 2 250 ign.
I run a complete '98 250 setup on mine, used for MX. I'll never put the 500 stuff back on. It has the powerjet hook up, but I havn't tried the powerjet carb yet. Been on my to try list but its not like it needs more power. Revs and turns like a 60hp cr250....good times! ![Cool :cool:](./images/smilies/cool.gif)
