Clutch pics & stuff

Took apart the right clutch side of the case to install my new gear shift drum & seal & also to inspect the clutch.

Are these the tooth marks that you don't want? They look too bad to file down, I guess I'll fork out for a new basket any suggestions on brand and whatnot?

The clutch plates were almost toast too!

Any preferred type of clutch plates & brand I should get?

That basket is pushing it but I personally would hit it with a file, IMO you'll get a couple more years out of it with no issues.

Oh and that clutch look fine, they aint fried till they look like this!

On a serious note spend 20 mins with a file and slap in some new plates and it'll be good to go.

I run the EBC clutches 'cos im cheap, the barnett carbon fibers seems to be the shiznit.

Ok say if I wanted to get a new basket just because my money grows on trees. Most of the baskets I see don't have the big gear attached to the back, do I have to take the gear off my current basket and attach it to the new basket or do new baskets come with that gear attached?

It doesn't look like the gear will come off without a fight either.

Its simple, you drill out the rivets, and bolt it to the new basket.

Someone here should have a useable OEM basket for you....

I have thrown mine away but you mite grind yours down and get a few more months out of it until you can get a new one

Minium plate thickness is .112

You may just need a new basket. I'd replace it.

Yea but the whole thing about removing the gear and bolting it to another plate is kinda high maintenance for me. I don't understand how that will work either.

easy drill out the rivets and press out the sprocket then press it on the new hub and bolt it on done deal

Try Honda Parts Direct I just bought an OEM basket there with gears for like $175. Hard to beat that IMHO!!!!

And if you don't have a press, you can drive it out of your old basket, bag the gear and stick it in the freezer. An hour or so later, it will drop right in to the new basket.

Move the cushions over, put the backing plate on, lock tight the screws and you're good to go.
