I don't need the ass dyno in this case.
when you use your bike for supermoto riding you got always plenty of grip. this is why you can use the wheely dyno - it this says that I do power wheelys one gear higher than without choke.

It seems that the more power is everywhere but especially when i ...

Ok I looked the carb setting up:

Main jet: 195
Pilot jet: 50 (idles a little but stalls after some seconds especially with a gear turned in - so bigger would cause idling problems)
Needle: DGJ
Position: Clip in the middle

any ideas?

yeah anyways thanks for your answer.

I wrote my rough jetting details in the first post and i am not 100% sure but what I wrote is roughly right. I changed the settings of the carb to that so I didn't use the stock sudco jetting.

I forgot to write that I have a Supermoto bike which is also street ...

More power with Choke?!

Hi,

I noticed that my Cr5 has more power when I leave the choke turned in. My feeling is that I got around 2-4 hp more with the choke.

I got a Sudco PWK 41 racing carb. I have to look my setting up can't tell you by heart. Needle is around DGH/J/K/L and as far as I know clip in middle position, I ...

Roosty - no I hadn't included the piston dome..

Maybe my technique was not the best, I did 2 heads at the same time, an HF1 with a .032" step and an ML3R with about .007" step - not much..

The ML3 was sold to me as a high comp head, now i know that hi-comp more likely means shaved to shit but ...

so first I wanna do a leak down test. Can you help me with that and perhaps post some pictures of your own, perhaps self-build leak down equipment? And I would need some instructions like which parts keept on the engine while doing the test (reed block etc.) and at which pressure to pump up, how ...

Now I took some more pictures.

Guess what bout the wrist pin: the holes look good, but the pin can not be pushed through the hole in the piston by hand :!: this could explain the exessive galling and temp. signs! I tried both sides of the wrist pin with both sides of the piston!

I checked the fuel ...

Yeah, I had the PWK 39 before. Then I changed to the Sudco PWK 41.
Before I had a 195 main and 50 pilot. I read alot of numbers in the 17X area and also that the 41 doesn't demand a bigger jet than the 39. So I went down to 190 and 52 pilot.
I am taking a picture of the spark tomorrow too.

I have to make a picture of the piston from the bottum - will do that tomorrow. The top looks like the following:
Please note that I have opened the engine a few rides before the engine failure happened. But I didn't ...

plug looks ok - it's brown and near perfect jetting - a little on the fat side.
I didn't close the throttle totally and I played with the gas - not only one position. But as the sound appeared BEFORE I changed the throttle position (I accelerated at WOT) I guess it is more a heat problem than a ...

so as I said I was in last gear and went about 70 miles/hour when that strange scratching sound came up. And this sound came up before but only at the high speeds when I had full load for a few more seconds.

I also sealed up the exhaust pipe at the flange but I don't think ...

not that I know... ok I got the (bigger) KTM radiators and the pressure relief valve openes from what I know at 1.2 bar (more than stock) but it didn't open - so I guess it wasn't that hot (also the wheater wasn't that hot - about 15°Celsius, 60°F).
The power of the bike at that day was very good ...

Engine failure - seizing - what happened?

I experienced an engine failure yesterday :(

I was going about 70 miles per hour when a strange sound appeared - like a scratching and I expected the piston rings to make this sound.
The sound began a few rides before - but only at the higher speeds. Even if the sound wasn't nice I was not too ...

Searching for a PWK 41 Pro Series

Hello,
as my carb is for no use now I need a new one. It should be a Keihin PWK 41 Pro Series to give me that little extra power!

Thanks

I should have done that!
Now I guess I totally fucked it up. Put it together today and realized the gap between the housing and the slide. The slide is only little smaller than 41mm!
Do you also have the gap? I will still try to run it but I guess it won't run or just very crappy with this gap ...

i called Sudco and they told me that they bore the PWK 41 Pro Series, but that they don't offset bore them.

So does anybody have problems with their Sudco carbs concerning idle?

so a couple of more questions:

1. If you bore the carb out on a mill (so straight through) then you couldn't open up the air inlet side with the angle - so this has to be done on lathe right?
So it seems that the carbs on the pictures above (and also sudco carbs) are done with a lathe.
2. If you ...

How to get the PWK 39 to a 41.5?

I wonder how exactly i would increase the diameter of the carburator (my PWK 39). Everybody is talking about "boreing" but do people mean turning?

And which diameter do you exactly increase? If it is the full way through, how can you avoid not to remove the "needle housing" (red arrow on the ...
