I guess I should have clarified it a little more. "I" HAD IT PORTED.
The fact that the bore's have not been straight is very reassuring, since I have to have this motor ready to roll buy Wed. , and have already ordered the top end. Yay!!
I just bought a new OEM cylinder. Anyone know what to use to get the yellow coating out of the cylinder? Its been ported, and has the rear transfers epoxied. Dont want to use a harsh chemical that might compromise the structure of the epoxy.
I've recently had the chance to compare multiple cylinders from different builders, one of which seems to pull taller gears easier than the rest. The hardest pulling motor seemed to have less agressive durrations than the rest. While most of the cylinders seem to be around 187*-188* of exhaust, and ...
Gonna see what develops, the problem will likely be the tire... what tire is gonna hold that much power, maybe? an MF44? haha
I dont think the tire will be an issue at all, if a bike is set up properly traction is not an issue no matter how much power you have. I've seen bikes with Well ...
I was checkin out Eric Gorrs website and saw that he offers a big bore kit for the CR500, making it 520cc. Anyone know anything about these 520 kits? I'm just curious to see what size the bore is on the 520 kit.
100hp honda wrote:buddy called me said 92.25 are done . got the keystone rings also, i guess thats good
How do i get one, and what all sizes do they come in? I've got a 91mm in mine right now. I'd be interested in a 91.25 if they are avalible in that size.
I've got a guy that has a cylinder that he says he thinks came off a 94' CR500. Im interesed in buying it depending on what bore its on. I asked him to measure the bore and get back with me. He tells me he just measured it, and its at 88.25. I told him that they are 89 stock. He said hes aware they ...
Are you saying, remove the steel sleave, and just run it like that with a nikasil plating?
For some reason I'm thinking thats not gonna work to well. I would think it would trow your port timing off...a lot. not to mention, where are you gonna ...
I had a buddy that did the Nicom, he had trouble with it. started chipping after about 3 rides. they replated it for free, but he was still out the down time, and shipping. Later on it looked like the sleave started coming loose from the cylinder around the intake port, causing the piston drag on ...
So how long do you suppose it will take to decide if they are gonna produce the plus sized pistons ( bigger than 91mm)? I need to either get one of these pistons, or buy a new cylinder. The last place I had bore my cylinder apparently didnt like holding tolorences to well. They bored it to have .006 ...
Can anyone tell me what the transfers and exhaust degree at on a stock 89-01 CR500 cylinder? I'm at 119* on transfers and 187* on the exhaust. My bike seems to run pretty good, but I am kinda wanting a little more out of it. Hillclimb bike only. Most hills are wide open speed hills, shifting to ...
that 500 looks like something I would have come up with in shop class when I was in high school. Look at the bright side, it would have to prevent fork flex. If it didnt the damn chain would be jumpin off ALL the time. Imagine lockin the front wheel up off a 70ft double. lol.
Yeah, you'd think it would have sounded horrible, but he said it never really made any noise at all.????
He musta been gettin jacked around the whole time while owning that bike, cause he put three pistons in it, and all three needed to be cut after he received them. It was kinda a pain in the ass ...
My brother had a 550 once. He overhauled it and they sent him a "standard" KTM 550 piston, which was not cut on the skirts, they were squared off like a regular piston would be. He ran it for a full season, and tore it apart to notice the skirts had been broken, bent, folded, and smashed into the ...
I've got a late 90's CR500 thats at .080 over and probably needs to be overhauled. The problem is, I've got a killer port job on this cylinder, and dont really feel like throwing it in the junk pile (just cause its on its last bore), buying a new one, and starting again from scratch. New cylinders ...
