The Siezeco i just put in my 250 has the "old style" rings. They really make me nervous as I have had friends who have bad luck with them rotating and snagging a port. Ill need to find out from them if the "Racers Choice" single ringers have new or old. I plan to run one of those on the next top end to try it out but if its the old style I most likely wont chance it. Never ran a single before...
I wish JE made smoker pistons!

the Mahle stuff has been all over the board on quality lately, atleast in the coatings dept

when I was researching and shopping for pistons for the stealth, CP was the absolute best with no arguements and they cost twice what the Wisecos did. I went with Ross custom designed by 3sx racing because I got a good deal on them, but if I had the cash I would have gone with CP.

Ross had always been on an alcoa forging = CRAP
at the speedway guys are looking at 10-15 nights til a ross skirt changes or fails, we run the mahle ALOT, one guy has probably 180-200 nights on a set, same size as when they went in.
The racetec only got out to the track this spring, BUT theres been no issues sofar and we've got some track champions on them

I like Mahles from coming from a Euro bike background - Mahles in Maicos would last years. I also worked for a couple of years, twice, at Off Road Imports here in OZ, whilst they still did Maicos, where I got my 89 320.
We'd have blokes with old 250s, 400, 440, 490s, getting rings for pistons that were in full spec after many years of use. Many had rings that were less than mid way into their spec limits. More often than not, the bore was the worn item, and even that would be minuscule. Keith Stacker, would make new sleeves to take the old pistons and rings, from iron stock left out in the elements to weather for 20+years. Blokes, when they couldn't get Mahle parts, would just put them back together, with a new sleeve, and ride for another 5/10 years.
Everything I've had to do with Mahle has left me with enormous respect for the quality of their old 2t products. I have never seen an old school Mahle 2t piston crack from fatigue.
But things have changed, I did a fair amount of searching on the various Mahle sites, and found no 2t MC stuff at all.
I'm sure I'd be able to find it if I tried harder - Euro specialists / sidecar engine people will have commissioned batches of 2t pistons.
I'd like to be able to get the German made pistons for a CR500 - but I'd say that would never happen. I guess Roostious is dealing with the US arm of Mahle Motorsports - they make product all around the world.

the Mahle rings are brazilian, premium stuff, and the price is unreal, a set of 1/16 1/16 3/16 or a metric set of 1.5, 1.5, 3mm sbc rings are almost 1/2 the $ of JE, perfect cirlce, or speed pro
Wherever the pistons get built theres a few things they need to change off the original design, nothing special
