I don't know about you guys, but i've likely got 4x the hours on an old 85 z50 honda this summer than i did on my 500s.
My boy has an 81 with training wheels, I ride beside him on mine, last week I bought an 80 and an 82
Kball1313 is in on the 50 hoarding too, this week I'll post pictures of my mini fleet.
The 1980 bike is minty but the previous owner said he always needed to bump start it, so before it even gets here I bought a Lifan 125cc enigne for it.

I've got a 1991 z50 I picked up last winter, Ive been trying to sell the little beast, but if no one picks it up off of me I know I'm goin to end up going a little resto crazy on it.
can you guys over there make them road legal ?
we can here and i've been thinking of pimping one up for scooting around town.
price / pics / cond. / location .
i've got a mate bringing a container back from Alabama way soon and looking to bring a few toys back.
if there's one thing dad likes more than serenity… it's a two stroke engine on full throttle!
Tonite I completed the transplant of the Lifan 125cc motor into the 1985 Z50. I intended to use it in the 1980 and stil will do that, The weather is good and i want to ride so the bike I had got the engine.
Its hillariously awesome, 1 down 3 up trans, manual clutch and an ebay pipe.
the bike cost 250$, engine 280$, cables, throttle tube, housing and grips 45$, ebay pipe with twice the diamiter of stock but not blubbery loud 60$. "Sno Hog" tires are 20$ each at the goodyear dealer, so i bought a few, then also got some "blem" tires from ebay to burn off, 3 or 4$ each, i forget, 6 of them got here for 40$ tho. I used a 8$ 1 1/2" shielded breather from a stock car valvecover until the airfilter from ebay arrives. new chain 30$, new fenders 65$, hydraulic clutch kit 40$.
I'll be into it 1000$ by the time I like how it looks with a new seat cover and some paint, but hey Its well worth it to ride with my boy. We always rode 50s together but he could get away and I couldnt catch him to stop him if I needed to.
The other 2 spare bikes I have now are called for, my bro is taking one of them and the other is double booked by my cuz and a friend.
I'll post video later, Its just getting to youtube.
I rode my 50s more than anything else too. Broken collarbone put me out for a long time. Was in 6 pieces and had a bunch of other problems to go with it. Could ride the 50s one armed so I stayed in the game. Rode my '77 Z50 75kms in one day at the cabin. That's a longer ride than most days on the big bikes.
Here's a video of our crf50's from last year. Got a couple vintage Z's going together now though. Gotta get em ready for the 50 nationals by the look of it.
that 77 is pretty sweet, kinda jammed for buying more bikes right now.
i did buy a 5th z50, a 1981 again, but we have a disney trip and a cancun trip between dec 9 and jan 9, its going to be hectic!
I'm waiting on a new sprocket, everything else is new, why put a used on on it
so, i have genuine 1981 Z50 honda frame, forks and a new OEM seat. Its pictured with original Z swingarm and oem shocks here, but I did some test fitting and the rumor of the XR75 swingarm works. So its getting an OEM XR75 arm and OEM CT70 shocks to stretch her out a bit. ends up at stock ride height again. Unless I make a special bracate to re-locate the rear fender and mount the shocks from it too.
xr75 swinger test fit on bike 4
I bought a couple of them, one i'll shorten 2", so its 1.5" longer than stock, the other is for the boy to hillclimb with.
Heres some pictures of the toy I've been working on and playing with.
Started as a well used and abused 1991 Z50R
What do you think? Lol. It's a lot of fun so far.
Jetting needs some attention. The Lifan 125 kit came with what actually looks like a real Keihin carb, I was real skeptical that it would be real but so far I'm impressed. Even the jets are stamped with the Keihin star by the numbers....
Came with a 38 pilot and 88 main. Has a bad lean bog when cracking the throttle that goes away if the choke is left half on. Going to chase down some bigger brass next week.
Looks good, I also have that hydraulic clutch but haven't installed it yet.
Stock forks? That beast has way more head to tire clearence than I do. I actually added .950" snubbers in the top of the fork to help the tire of the head.
I've rode mine for the past 4 hours, it's perfect. I did order some white wing graphics for the tank too. Trying the perfect font of the number 1 for the plates, kinda like the Naha style 1.
Can u really keep the chain on that beast?
