dude ktm bikes are cool. i used to talk crap about mine when i first got it but that was before i understood how they worked, theyre actually pretty good machines. pretty well built also considering ktm was only a pimple on brits ass compared to honda. im speaking of the old ones of course, i havent taken apart a newer one.
Im not a hater, I just think they are too hyped and over priced. And unlike Mick(ey Mouse), I dont comment on bikes I dont have extensive experience with. I have worked on and ridden tons of KTMs from the old 550's to modern 144's, 250's etc. Both 2 smokers and thumpers...100hp honda wrote:dude ktm bikes are cool.

ill tell you what, when we go out trail riding, 50% of the bikes we see out there are middle aged guys on KTM's.....M.F.D.B. wrote:Im not a hater, I just think they are too hyped and over priced. and if tuned length is why they loop the pipe, then what was the point of sending the exhaust out the rear of the cylinder?

Was that a random incomplete thought or a point? If those guys all rode quads would you buy one?NightBiker07 wrote: ill tell you what, when we go out trail riding, 50% of the bikes we see out there are middle aged guys on KTM's.....
That question is tricky. It doesnt really make sense and ignores obvious things. It implies that you think they ran the exhaust out the rear in order to shorten the system. Which is obviously NOT any reason they had. Here are a few:NightBiker07 wrote:and if tuned length is why they loop the pipe, then what was the point of sending the exhaust out the rear of the cylinder?
Straighter shot of intake in and exhaust out of the head for greater power output.
Coupled with the new angled cylinder the "reverse" setup raises efficiency.
Better mass centralization.
Easier serviceable and better efficient air filter/intake system.

Locally here it sure as hell is. Guys want the light weight of the smoker with e-start for crashes...100hp honda wrote:300 with e-start seems to be the hot ticket from what i heard.

don't forget about a less vulnerable head pipe (just look at mine) or easier access to the airbox from a better place to be getting the air, the front of the bike.

I kept dumping it without hitting the pipe. the dent happened on an off camber hill where the bike just fell over and I put my leg out and stood up while it fell. It was like 2mph, but there was a sharp rock at the right place at the right time
oh, I actually wanted to talk to you, what year is your dodge? I'm looking at a '08 dodge 2500 6.7 and I read mixed stuff, but it sounds like bypassing the particulate filter takes care of it.

Did you have to swallow a dick to know you didn't like it? I didn't think so...
It's like trying to teach a down syndrome kid the square peg goes in the square hole, not the round one. 250 two strokes handle better than any 450 or 500, that's the only leg I'm standing on. What you've been running the suck hole about I don't know?
If you disagree...sweet, right on man-o. I'm not going to argue vanilla over chocolate with you.
