ANOTHER AUSSIE BUILT AF 09 450X
I won't disagree with you on that point.
It matches the rest of the bike & the rider.
All I care about is keeping the singletrack & special tests that I've made since I was a kid open to me, so far stealth and threatening to tear blokes on loud bikes (inevitably 4 strokes) a new arsehole has worked for me.

i wasnt having a go at you you have to do what ever it takes to ride and if more people cared about noise it would be a nicer place ban the four stroke i saybearorso wrote:I won't disagree with you on that point.

I think we would be safe in saying you were the first in Oz to do a CR500AF with Rego.
It really is great to see someone achieve something like this.

now that the bike has passed adr's
we are thinking of doing a few bikes for fellow riders so that they have rego on their beasts
this thing has cost us a bomb but that was doing a few trial runs with everything we made.
if we did a few bike conversions we will only ever do one at a time
just got to sit our butts down and work out some figures for conversion or just mount and rail kits.
as you can see this is a high end conversion.
pm if interested

Shouldn't that be PM if you have the money.
Everyone is interested, not everyone has the money though.

Gregrobo,
Didn't take your comment badly, as I said, I agree completely and it does look REDICULOUS. I try not to look at the damned thing, but when doing trail maintenance, walking back to the bike, I almost fall down laughing at the stupid thing.
The slim muffler looks good though , especially , if your used to watching WEC dvds & MX1 races, as they all have long, high mufflers.
Shaggy,
Bloody hell, Woody's had trouble getting ADR ?- they were the originators of ADRd MXers. But if they went to the trouble of ADRing it, it was certainly as I predicted, that it was going to be a commercial venture , eventually. ADRing costs a motza to do, to my very limited knowledge on the subject. I wish them luck, they did well years ago with WMWs, perhaps they can do more types of bikes, and they will do an infinitely better job than other, OS producers. As a side note, another way to reduce noise on a 2 stroke is to extend the stinger INTO the chamber, following the center line of the convergent cone - I think I got this from Gordon Jenkins(?) 2 stroke book eons ago - if you don't want to have a long muffler.
Although, I assume you may have to have exactly the same muffler set up, with an ID number on it , as it was ADRd with? Come on , show us what it looks like, It can't be any sillier looking than my mufflers (unless it's a DB Snorkle - not knocking them , I may try one on my slim muffler)

this venture has nothing to do with woodys
it has been funded by a POSTIE and WOODYS head mechanic.
we are only going to do a VERY limited run of these bike (3 or4) to offset the massive cost that was funded by us.
we use the WMW name as a thank you too woody for use of the workshop after hours.

Don't get your knickers in a knot Shaggy.
When You originally had at the bottom of the posts something along the lines of WMWs return ( not the same wording, but I hope you get my gist) it looks as if it's a Woody's project, logically so, as this is what they were famous for.
When you say you've ADR'd it, do you actually mean you have has it fully ADR'd so it has a series compliance plate? That, with my limited knowledge, would be a massive expense that you sure would like / need to recoup. Or is it an Engineering Certificate set up? This is something I've done several times on various projects. I've been lucky enough to have a relative that can do these, only as fully legitimate jobs, but at an affordable cost, just a few hundred , instead of thousands to do.
I hope you sell a few - with ADR or Engineers Certificate rego you'll have a chance of that, especially when you compare your conversion to what others sell to people. If the OZ dollar had remained low, you would have had a good shot of selling some to OS buyers.
So if your wanting to sell some, as I posted before, don't ignore the other site just because they have requested you to do an intro. There are a lot of potential customers there. As for your last post to AP, with your comment of "why does everyone have to comply" and "I don't like rules", well you've just met a bunch of rules & complied to get the rego on your AF. You've presented yourself pretty well on this site, but done yourself a real disservice over there.

Shaggy,
Congratulations mate. First ever CR500AF registered in Australia
Be very careful on the road. Anyone who recognises the 500AF on the road will be "no way, did I just see ......" and will follow you until they either "hit a light post" or "Hit you" because their concentration will be all on your bike. When I ride my R1, I find this happens alot. I appreciate them admiring the bike but I don't appreciate a car travelling so close to my side or arse simply so they can get a good look at it. Far too dangerous for my liking. Just snap the throttle and let them drool with the accelleration they just witnesses (not to forget the sick wheelie you just performed).
Well mate, once again, well done and I hope its not the "one and only" 500AF rego'd in Australia. Can't wait to see the final pics.
