Is that Y section a brand new peice or a well cleaned up original.
Well you have made a nice start so far.
How much clearance have you got between the fuel tank and the plug and water outlets.
2009 CRF450X :?: I presume.
That 450 engine is one UGLY LUMP OF SHIT.

Does anyone know anybody who has done an 09 CRF450 yet.
Keep up the good work man.

I assume Woody's are going to try to be OZ's SH.

It will be interesting to see what sort of price will be attached to a WMW500AF - there's plenty of blokes with money & no building skills over here to support the sales of a few a year, good luck to them. They pioneered the ADR'd MX to Enduro conversions with their WMW CRs in the 80's here in OZ - they should do a good job of AFs.

But it's the blokes who make their own stuff that are the real deal. This last comment comes after my moneyed, but talentless brother has bought another hot rod - he has about 15 trick cars, none of which he has built, just bought, though he has the habit of making out that that he's the builder of each one - a pathetic BS artist in other words. You can't choose your family I guess. My younger brother & I actually make things - we've both long since given up on our older brother actually creating something himself . Sorry for the tirade - feeling pretty grumpy with no riding due to a big concussion - went to ride the other day but lack of balance / vision problems meant I had to park it, for safety's sake. :x

The best builds I see are inevitably done by owners themselves - mind you there are some frightening ones done by owners out there too.

these bikes will hold only the name of WMW as they are built by myself and bean for ourselves out of a passion for these types of bikes.

the reason they have the WMW name is that bean is the head mechanic at woodys and these 2 bikes are built there in our own time at our own cost.

All that woodys has donated is the workshop for our after hour use.
bearorso we have no ambition to be the aussie version of SH as all of our parts have been hand milled nothing has been made on a cnc

Be cool to see but I cant see it happening while the factory boys' 450's and 505's are obviously getting the job done. (apart from the Honda EFI filter issues)

Like your build too fellas, very neat work with the 1 piece cradle and milled mounts !

Hey Shaggy,

There was no criticism of Woodys there - I'd rather see guys who are unable to do an AF themselves pay money to an Australian shop, with a solid record, that will do a damned site better job than some of the business' that do them now. I'm pretty sure , if Woodys did them, clients would get what they paid for, in the time frame it was promised as well.

As for CNC....., a vice, hacksaw, some files & a TIG is all that you Really need to do an AF. Anything more than that just makes it a little easier. We are just doing our versions of Tritons, Tribsa's etc that some of our dads did with even less in the past, it's not rocket science. :D

Very nice build, I am currently building a 05 450X doing a very similar conversion with full cradle replacement. What radiators are you going to be useing, my stock radiators are hitting the Y. I plan on posting my conversion when complete.

Thanks

Bearorso
thanks for that comment
woodys has always held a high standard and always will.
we built my08 crf250x so it had 35hp at the rear
thats ok for something that had 27hp standard and still runs all the extra weight for the starter gears.

we hope that more aussies will take up the challenge of building these bikes.
