Theres NO inventory in Canada on that part, and a month ago 0 in the USA, all the race teams had bought the inventory.
ive got a few options so im not worried at this point. but if worse does come to worse, theres a few floating on ebay. ive been checking and i dont see that any 565 series motor ever used a metal impeller, do you know something im not aware of ?
back in the day when 2strokes ruled the land, for one reason or another KTM was always at the back of the line compared to the jap bikes. now the japs have focused only on 4strokes, KTM seems to be making alittle head way and might actually be making some of the best bikes out there. magazines seem to say alot of good things about the new 250 and 450 ktm models

I'd asked the mechanic thats touring with the cuz yesterday and he figured they did, maybee hes thinking the wrong engine. i told him 550, but we also talked about that 520 gasket deal and the 525, and then into the waterpump issue in the 450 (which i know had a metal one prior to 09) so we may have jumbled up conversation. I'll be talking to them again this weekend.
The cuz pulled 2 12th place finishes in his first round1 pro national in kamloops, he said he was timmid and pussy footed arround learning how the other guys ride dirty. Said the Hungarian rider that RTR has on a KTM anniholated everyone tho, and set the bar pretty high this season.
has to do with rebound and the lack of linkage giving it more of a springing action to send you over the bars, next time I talk to dewayne, I'll get some more details, but I have heard that from different places too. In fact I was talkign to a couple ktm riders last week, and they said they knew exactly what I was talking about and had some close calls right after landing some jumps too hard.

He also mentioned that KTM used to have linkage way-back-when, but had to phase it out to cut costs. Now, they're supposed to be making a come back...? Always wondered why you dont see KTM in MX or Super Cross, etc.
KTM’s MX 2 riders top three at pre-season Valence
KTM factory riders Valentin Teillet, Shaun Simpson and Rui Goncalves notched up a great day taking the top three places in the MX2 class on Sunday at the pre-season meeting in Valence in the south east of France
KTM rider Trae Franklin finishes 1st at Green River, BC. CMRC MX Provincial: Green River, BC, May 24th, 2009
I havent rode a kawi or suzuki, but the yammy and honda have 0 for the 450 KTM.
I'm sure that theres more media $ from yamaha and honda so they're talked about more often, but here riders feel its KTM world in 50,65,85 supermini, mx1 + mx2 classes
The hungarian dude that was fast is 6ft+ and over 200lbs
seems ktm has always been more expensive than jap bikes, even back in the day. i have a hard time believing they ditched the link suspension to save a few bucks, im sure theres more to the story. ive never rode a link less suspension but it just doesnt look right to me. the older ktm 2strokes has a link style similiar to the japs

im sure the newer bikes use a metal impeller very similiar to the hondas, but they wont fit my bike . i got checking more and i think the 350, 440, 500, 550 all shared the same impellar part # and i think they were all plastic. while the plastic is a crappy design, im sure if its not over tightened it will probly work just fine for a few years, untill the plastic degrades and gets brittle. on the bright side, the 550 tranny looks like it came from a kenworth, the gears appear rather beefy

They cost more for sure, but in their defense they come with some pretty trick shit stock. Ohlins shocks, brembo brakes, Magura Hydo clutch, etc. etc. Im no fan, but fair is fair so just the facts...
Faster then Speedy Gonzalez, slower then the Road Runner!!! MEEP MEEP
I happen to love all of my 5 KTM's. I have one with linkage and the rest are without. I have to admit though, my bike with linkage is an animal. The best brakes hands down
nmdesertrider wrote:The so called countershaft 'seal' on the KTM is one of the stupidest contraptions I have ever seen.
the clutch side seal is stupid also, im thinking a bearing and seal house might have some alternative seals that are a better design that would work. i wont get started on the rod but ive heard from several people the rod was a big weak link, now i see why. i compared it to a cr500 rod, the 550 rod almost looks like it should be in a 250, it looks that flimsy. i did some careful inspection between the two, with some enginuity a cr500 rod can probly be transplanted into the ktm. theres a few issues but i think its do-able.

and forged pistons (atleast the older 2strokes did, not sure what the new bikes have), and alot of them came with a 10/9 plate clutch, with steel plates to boot
the '09 450 bike is for sure plastic over the previous metal ones, its been an issue for the guys when they rode in texas and cali this winter, they've been failing them and the older metal one apparently does not interchange with it
