Post by aloha450x »

if one were to spli the cases to have the motor powdercoated how much would the seals cost. and on a skill level how hard is it? any special tools needed?

If you can do a top end, then spliting is the next level.

Mostly its a few tools mainly an impact gun to get the clutch nut off, crank and fly wheel nut, puller for the flywheel, and a puller tool for the cases. Habor freight has a puller set but you'll need longer bolts.

Would it be all worth it to powder coat the cases? In my book, could be if it were a show piece.

Hell I dunno. Check mrcycles.com But that reminds me, I have to order a sprocket seal.

Also check for washers stuck to the cases by the oil after there apart. Also Rob129 left a good how to on the other site.

Split the cases, just to paint them?

If you split , change all the bearings, have the tranny gears magnafluxed, replace shift forks..etc..etc...

This is WAY easier...

I bought a steering wheel puller from discount and with the long bolts of the case used in conjuntion with the steering wheel puller it makes a simple but great case splitter. You can get it for cheap.
