I forced myself into advanced composition class and AP english classes in highschool and I did see a drastic improvement. What I found though was my own nature went against it, I had a very difficult time with creative writing and wanted to write my letters like an alarm clock display. I'm very left brained. I was in pre-calc my junior year even though I barely showed up to trig the year before (I did well on the final) but struggled in lit class. the funny thing is I can read a technical manual no problem and retain everything I read, but no matter how many damn times I try to read "the cat in the hat" I struggle my whole way through sounding out each work like a 1st grader.
I can't say much for statistics, and there are exceptions to everything, some are more balanced than others.
Heres a little thing I found while looking for some info on the topic

Yeah, and I'm saying it is more likely because you simply were / are not truly interested.

"I forced myself" = not really interested but knew it would make you a better person.

"can read technical manuals and retain" = you don't think that has everything to do with what captures your interest

"struggle with cat in the hat" = and what doesn't capture your interest
I see what you are saying, but I still think it has more to do with structure. Working in IT I'm reading the most boring ass crap all damn day, but the way it is structured makes it very easy for me to read. I spend all damn day reading event logs, scripts, system registy, etc but like the cat in the hat is structured all over the place each work follows the wrong word, I'm not quite sure if I am explaining it well. Like I can read a logically written book without any problems, but if I'm not interested I will not retain anything, it that respect you are %100 correct. I think it is just my dyslexia. The wife was asking the doc yesterday if that might be genetic... kinda bummed me out, she was talking about it like its cancer, but being a big reader I can understand why should would think its such a big deal.

I'm a little smitten with the PC pipe they sell now. What I'd like to know is what happened to that damn aluminum pipe they made for the CR500 that was tested by MXA in '01. MXA felt it produced the same gains from mid to top but even pulled harder from the bottom too. It had over twice the wall thickness of the steel unit and weighed less than half as much. MXA race tested it over several races (maybe even an entire season?) and felt it was hell for stout. And of course price was about twice as much as the steel pipe too but shit...loosing 3.5 lbs of fat, gaining hp from an idle to the stopper and having a rugged pipe to boot is worth $400.

And Pro Circuit does seem to be more liberal about their CR500AF sales. They had a 24 pg. add here recently that listed exhaust systems for '02-'04 Service Honda's. Personally I think Pro Circuit sells a good deal more systems to our crowd than does FMF.
