I learned in genetics class the other day that there is a population of turtles that is becoming extinct and the only reason they can come up with is (slight) global warming. Turtle sex (male or female that is) like many other species, is determined by temperature. With the temperature being slightly higher the last several years in the same area is causing more and more males (approx 97%) to be born then females...that is just a fact. I bet they will evolve in some way that changes sex determination but it's true.

Personally, I think it is just mother earth gearing up for another ice age. That will come but will take another thousand-ten thousand or more years....nothing I need to worry about, so I will just RIDE!
Say hallo to my little friend, Mr. CR 500.

The mercury in the fish is directly related to nazi Germany and WW2. The krauts were sending large shippments of mercury to the japs. They used it for the detonators on their bombs and ordinance. They sent it via submarine, and well, the US wasn't aware of what was on board and if they were it didn't matter because we blew the shit out of them, now 60+ years after the fact, the mercury contained inside the subs is leaching out all over the place.
