New OEM cylinder-Yellow coating?

Post by 23champ »

I just bought a new OEM cylinder. Anyone know what to use to get the yellow coating out of the cylinder? Its been ported, and has the rear transfers epoxied. Dont want to use a harsh chemical that might compromise the structure of the epoxy.

The coating is called cosmoline. Take it off with brake cleaner.

its definately new with that coating, brake kleen / solvent / gas, whatever is closest.

Check the BORE!!
The last few new ones i've recieved havent been useable at standard
The most recent one was .001 tight 1"from the top, .002" loose close to the transfers and .003" tight for the bottom 1.5"
I had to bore it oversize.

I guess I should have clarified it a little more. "I" HAD IT PORTED.

The fact that the bore's have not been straight is very reassuring, since I have to have this motor ready to roll buy Wed. , and have already ordered the top end. Yay!! :(
