The Future Home of the "Steiner Ride House"

Post by Steiner 311 »

The wifey and I are proud to announce that we have opened escrow on some acreage in the Bell Mountain, Stoddard Valley area. Though the two pictures I'm posting don't due the land justice due to the accumulated amount of shit on the property, the only thing that will remain is the 3 bedroom home and the workshop within the next few weeks. We should be closing escrow in about two weeks and the track construction will start immediately, including irrigation! We are being very optimistic as we want to have our first ride party Presidents weekend and to celebrate our daughters birthday as well. So Brit, and all you local guys, get ready to have a new playground. This won't be our everyday home, but we will have a track/ground maintanace person around most of the time. This place is going to be sweet guys, a few RV hookups, a full two story 60ft. x 45ft. workshop to handle any possible repair, BBQ area with shade and water misters, swimming pool, trackwide sound system, etc. Obviously not "all" complete by February, but the track and a few other goodies for sure! Oh.......and the veiw of Bell Mountain isn't too bad either! :D Consider these two pictures the "before", and I'll post up some as we go along.

Private.........................with benefits to others :D ! And yes, liability insurance will be in place.

Hoonfest would be sweet, get a blues band or something to play for the day. We can make this happen, I'll post some dates once we get this thing complete or even "mostly completed."

Larry- A lot of work, but I got few companies willing to take the job on reasonably........but yes, you have a lot work to do!

BTW- Those pictures don't even show half of the property!

That's cool man, sounds like a dream of yours will be a reality soon. How many acres did you get? And that location, I used to ride at Bell Mountain alot years ago, fun place. Isn't the area around the mountain closed to off roading these days? Anyhoo, congrats and good luck with the venture.

Definitely have lusted over a track since I was young, she measures out to just under seven acres. We were looking at 20 with no water rights and no structure, the figures just weren't working out. So this was the next option, which is a hellava lot of land when you walk it off. The two structures on the property were perfect for our use and located in the right area of the overall lot. The public land closer to the mountain is off limits to OHV, though I can assure a 25 mile or so ride from the house to Slash X is not a problem.

sweet, thats only like 160 miles from my house! I could pickup ISBB and we could make it down there in about 2 hours (maybe 1 1/2 if I get a chip to remove the stupid 105mph governor)! I'm sure MFDB would like bring his whole rig out too. :D :D
very nice, I hope to someday buy a crap load of land and build a track and such, only I'd like to live on it to. I don't like neighbors much.

Wow! This track sounds awesome! I've had the same dream but cannot exactly pull it off in my area...dang regulations and mountainous terrain (foothills of Rancho Cucamonga to be exact). I look forward to progress pics and opening day! Will the entire area be fenced in?

It will be fenced for sure, and yea RC would be hard to do something like this. Maybe a few years back, but that city has just blown up. The good thing here is if anybody is intrested in buying around me, they will be buying under the pretence that a track does exist, and they'd have to except that. At this point we don't plan on night sessions, and can pretty much do whatever we want, if one of the non-english speaking residents that reside on the outskirts of the property want to bitch, they better do it after 10pm. But my gut feeling tells me that they wouldn't want to draw any attention to themselves due to immigration reasons!

RC isn't the prob...Hoofarted...don't lie, you don't live IN RC, you live on county land at the edge of national forest land, you can ride all you want. Now apply some vagisil and tear down the oaks and get some dozers and back hoes out there!!!

Thanks Larry, I got a couple estimates for fill from some of the high desert boys and we'll compare with yours. There's a supplier just down the road that I plan on making friends with, he primarily pushes DG (decomposed granite) which is exactly what I'm looking for!

Cool.

I just talked to the guy that knows that stuff around here and he said it kind of depends on how much is available or not. But he did say it can be up to around $10 a cubic yard and if you find the right place around $5 a cubic yard. He also said if you can find someone that has just been paid to dig it up all you have to really pay for is the transportation of the dirt. So the cost would be alot cheaper.

Don't think that they can't have you shut down, even if you were there first. You know how many people buy homes next to tracks, then protest to have, and do have tracks shut down. Look at Riverside County. It'll be happening to more counties, just wait. I had a small track on my parents property, and practiced alot, and had been for about 15 years. A freindly new neighbor bought some property next to ours, and bitched from the second she moved in. The cops came on a regular basis. And guess what the outcome was? I wasn't allowed to ride.

Looks awesome though, have fun as long as you can!
Too much of a puss for a 500!

Agreed, and it is standard in the world today that anything you do, you might as well enjoy it while it lasts! We looked for a while to find the right property and came across many of the wrong ones. Doesn't seem like anybody will be moving into our territory anytime soon, better not or we'll flex! :D

If its off dale evans or anywhere inside apple valley it will not work, apple valley/hesperia/victorville has flat banned dirtbikes. If the cops see you and catch you its off to the impound yard. Thats one of the big reasons I moved to barstow.

I have a buddy with a few skid steers that builds tracks for ty davis, if it goes through I will hit him up to help us :D .

Right on Brit, I've run this across BLM prior to making the offer and you are right if you are on their land. The property sits on an easement with only one property line actually ajoining to Apple Valley, no patrol or enforcement in the area unless called upon, but really nobody to make the call. Should be just fine dude!!

It will fly because 7 acres is big enough to hide a track on as long as it's fenced around the perimeter. Here I have 40 acres and I'm almost done fencing the whole place. My track won't require much work to make because the land is undulating and has many natural berms and hills. I plan to just use my gannon box to create a clear path through the land and leave the surrounding terrain alone. I know a guy that has a very popular track he built in Santa Inez. He bought 500 acres with an old farm house on it, and used dozers to create two supercross style tracks in the back. Now team Kawasaki does all their testing there, and many pros visit his ranch for a session. Maybe you guys have heard of it, it's called the Castillo Ranch, it's in all the magazines these days.
Don't Clyde it, ride it!
