OH come on!, 6063 is sooooo much better than 6061, and there's No Way you can form the bend in 6061T6 without annealing it...............
So said, in short form (by a Screw I think that's what he revealed himself to be, in day to day life) to a bloke that has worked with 6061 since he was in his early teens.
Perhaps he tested his beliefs whilst sitting in a watch tower, being lord over all he sees? But, he had his old welder (who admittedly does lovely welds) tell him the 'Facts', and that was how it was.
A 70 degree angle is a good mean angle to start with. It's easier if you cut templates out of cardboard to give yourself ideas on the shape of what you need.
I don't mind the engine angle as it is, it would give less squat to the rear end under acceleration ( what they did with 09/10 CRF 450s), but it does make the ancillaries a bit harder to do. A lot of blokes position their engines so as to induce more squat - I'm not sure if they know that's the result of their mounting. Each to his own, I guess. I've had a few people post that it makes no difference, but that ranks on the level of 6063 and squashed tubing......
