The short case is a 1985-86, the stator case side is a 1989+, a larger bore for the larger sleeve.
What is the engine in? what cylinder do you have?

Since the only short rod water cooled engines were '85 and '86, that will be what you have for a clutch side case.

You keep kicking it like that and you will be scrounging around for new cases soon.
What I do is bring it to TDC, push the decomp, then kick away.

I Have a DG Pipe for a 1984 CR500 in very good conition. Less that 1 hour on it and a 1983 CR480 cylinder and head in good condition. I bought it as a only having 1 bore on it but I never verified it and the project I bought it for never panned out. I greased the cylinder to keep it from rusting ...
