Hey Mel you need to grind the corner off the Y. Sometimes you got to put a ding in the pipe to. The PC pipe is the worst fitting pipe.....

with the exhaust catching on the gear change side of the y piece, im thinking i may need to lower the engine a bit at the front. Currently I dont need to make clearance for the bottom clutch bolt, maybe this is where im going wrong?

Meant to update that I have found out who did the tuning work to the engine. I did a little research and the engravings are P.C.C.G.H. / Pro Circuit, and the pro circuit importer/dealer in the uk CGH imports. So essentially I am going to be running a pro circuit barrel, head and pipe

spent ages trying to get the motor actually fiteed today. when I had the engine just set in before I didnt have the cr125 collars in, (54mm & 59mm) but it just wasnt fitting what so ever.

Original collars that were fitted were 46mm & 54mm. Cr125 collars, 59mm & 54mm, with the 125cc collars fiteed ...

i never even picked up on that before. Was on it when i purchased the bike.

Have bought another steel framed bike there too, needs a bit of work but will be nice to have a modernised one and a retro one.

mel it will be ok to start cutting the y out, you will need to do this first so the motor can be installed to determine the correct position in the frame. I took a crf250 rolling chassie flipped it upsidedown like a bicycle, cut the y out, flipped it back on its wheels, set the motor in and clocked ...

If I was to cut the Y piece out and start prepping as much as possible would it be a bad idea? I mean would the frame loose its rigidity/form? or would it be safe enough?

Well got my 125 swingarm bearing kit and 1999 cr250 airbox complete in the post today. Plan for tomorrow is to fit the bearings and set the engine in the af chasis, to have a look at how much adjustment is required.

Chain run too loose, chews thru the rubber slider, and right thru the swingarm next.

This will not happen with proper maintenance! This includes replacing the slider before it hits aluminum

Polisport sliders are cheap, and seem to hold up "ok" so far, maybe a little noisier. I Have one on one of ...

Not at the minute. Plan is to keep the original chasis alongside the af build. Seems people here would rather buy them in steel frame rather than buying someone elses conversion. So when/if I sell I will most likely sell as a job lot with the option of steel or af chasis.

Its an ohlins shock. The attachment on the swingarm is a catchtank for petrol.

the original one, just has a perspex style top on it so you can see what your doing with an outlet for the blasting hose, and hands. In theory the one we build should just be a bigger version. This is dependant ofcourse on my dad ...
