The perfect 500

So, I am in the process of restoring my clapped out 89, and I am down to rebuilding my motor. I have been reading all the posts about what to do and what not to do, and I think I have got a gameplan as far as the rebuild goes. Specs as of now- Stock 89 motor, I am the 3rd owner of the bike, and I kn...

I will get pics of the 89 up as soon as I get the frame and hubs powdercoated. The bike is in a pile of parts in the corner of a garage at the moment. Should be a fun build, I'm going for a customized 89 look with the red plastics, 89 graphics and seat cover, with an IMS tank and black Excel rims. I...

A 685 with 82 horses?

The only downfall will be the almost assured 15 grand price tag, and that damn left side kicker.

I don't really see throwing $10k down on a dirtbike period. Hell, I don't believe any of my vehicles costed that much.

S/H may throw the bling on these bikes, but my beat up clapped the hell out 89 is virtually the same motor, and I gave 500 dollars for it!

I would think the fact that the TPS isn't hooked up would have something to do with it? Maybe the CDI isn't letting it rev above that point because of that. I thought the ideal years of the CR 250 ignition swap were the years without all the electronic BS?

1994 or 95 is when they switched from Showa to KYB if I'm not mistaken. The 89 forks suck balls. I had to get mine revalved before I could stand to ride it in the woods. I believe I would stick with the stock forks or get a newer set from a 450 or something. And I am not 100% sure, but I don't belie...

I have been checking the board out for a while..

I have just never posted until now. I have an 89 500 that I am in the process of restoring, and an 88 motor that is waiting on a donor frame. Never knew that building an AF would be so easy until i stumbled upon this site
