A nice flat head surface on the cylinder and head, a copper head gasket and an o-ringed head and you wouldn't have any leaks. I have a trx 250r with a stock jug big bore sleeve pressed in and it's critical to have all sides flat and the use of copper gasket and o- ringed head to have 100 % head seal ...

not to get off topic, but how does that 2012 KTM 300 compare to the 500? I understand the 300 has 57 hp stock.

do the KTM 4 strokes have oil or water going in the frame? I'm looking at the pics and see a tube the sticks out on the bottom of the main down tube of the frame where the head is. Is that some kind of water or oil tube that a 4 stroke motor runs?

Roost, maybe it's in here some where and I'm not smart enough to find it but have you ever dynoed all the reed cages on a stock or modified motor to see if any of these reed cages are any better than stock with either stock reeds or aftermarket reed pedals on it?

yup that's my mistake, I knew I lied about this a bit after I sent it. LT 500 rear studs aren't in the same location but they were close. The stock holes were welded and redrilled, front stud location on the cylinder is just like you discribe.

I have seen this motor up close, the guy who built it builds motors for me. I got to see the cylinder off the motor, it's a real monster there's no doubt about it. It's going to be a very tight fit in a steel 500 frame and in an aluminum frame bike, it's going to be too close to call. Plug will be ...

porting specs?
my motor is at 186 exhaust and 131 on the transfers, I had the transfers set at 128-130 but I ended up having to raise my cylinder up after the fact once I realized I got the exhaust floor a bit low and my piston was going to free port. Probably doesn't rev quite as good as it could with the ...

I have 14:1 compression but run race gas, I know guys say more compression equals less rpms on top, I just don't agree with this, it all depends on port timings and other factors. Depending on exhaust port timing, I don't know why you couldn't run pump premium gas with 1 spark plug as long as the ...

I know it can but one side is probably .003 and the other I could barely get a .005 feeler guage under it so it's very small and it's going to be like that for a split second where it's at due to crank rotation at that point. i could see a gap around the side of the piston unloading the transfer ...

I'm not confused, so you have one of packard's large lectrons that have 1.5 float bowls with two needle and seats, you need to fuel lines coming off your fuel pump (get a mukuni multifeed diaphram pump) to feed your carb and you need one line for the nitrous. Seems simple to me.

interesting, I assume 2001 cr 250 curve is the same as 2000? A guy would be better off getting a cr 125 box vs trying to advance the 250 curve 10 degrees. I will have to look into a CR 125 box for my TRX 431 cc motor. I have a 01 CR 250 ignition on it and it's a pig down low with the big pipe on it ...

I never thought about the POR-15 but that's a great idea. Went to the website, which one did you use, the stuff for engines (engine enamel) or the straight POR-15? Looks like they have a satin black regular POR-15 that would probably look good and you can thin it down to spray it.

Did I see on here somewhere that someone was making and selling torque plates or am I mistaken? If noone is, I will make one, they appear to be about 1/2 thick aluminum plate, does that sound about right ?

I have been riding working on bikes and talking to engine builders to know that if you take a cylinder ported by one builder to his competitor that chances are that guy is going to tell you it is a piece of junk so I don't really take what 100HP says real seriously on that account. If you tell 4 ...

This is really funny to read!!! I'm not bashing anyone here, this topic really cracks me up!!. I really do hope that there is a dyno shootout but it needs to be 2 bikes, one stock and one ported for the pipe test to be accurate. Both setups will also need the jetting changed each time to maximize ...

seems like everyone is getting bent out of shape over this which is kind of funny. CPI builds drag pipes, this pipe is really no different. It appears they offer two pipes, one that has no bottom end at all probably, a true drag pipe and the one 100HP has with slightly less top end, and a little ...
