Gen 2 kickstarter

Post by moto863 »

My 2nd generation AF CR500 is in need of a kickstarter. I had been using the stock kicker for the 500 motor with no issues, but I can no longer get it from Honda and now it is sloppier than a 2 dollar whore.

What 250/450 kicker would have the right bend to tuck in nice and not hit the pipe? I've tried a kicker from my 04 CRF450, but it hits the frame when trying to tuck it in.

Would the newer CR500 kickers work?

My donor 500 motor is an 88 model, are all the years shaped the same?

No, the late model looks like the 250, only bigger.

I'm more interested in where to get that 2 dollar whore. I mean geeze, only 2 dollars? I could find a way to make it work, surely there is some oriface on her that is less sloppy. And from what I hear, if you use a ham, and pull the bone out, she would good as new.

LOL. The one I saw had patchy hair. Also a serious case of meth mouth, and she looked about 80. Probably only about 25-30.

Yeah it doesn't give the same leverage like the stocker.

And another tip, if one wants to do the extra work. I did.

On the inside of the kicker assmebly, offset the spline one tooth. Yeah you'll have drain the coolant and remove the right side case, maybe the clutch too.

Shanman! you goin to Glamis?

Thanks all, I will try checking ebay and may even look at modding the 450 kickstarter to work. It may actually work by moving the kickstart gear that one tooth off.
