CR500 for Trials bike?

Post by M.F.D.B. »

So ive been thinking of giving up the 500 for something i'd get more use from. It is my first dirt bike and i'd hate to see it go, but I also hate to see it go to waste.

Ive been considering a trials bike (always have wanted one) or a 250 smoker 1st pick would be an aluminum frame YZ, 2nd choice a cr250. The YZ is tits but my reluctance to get a CR is that I want the newest frame and suspension, but the best motor is the early 2000's so I cant get both unless someone has done the conversion and wants a 500 (not likely). If I get a 250 its going to be setup for MX only and used primarily to "re-train" myself how to ride something other than a couch (my YZ450).

A guy just came and looked at the 500 and brought his GAS GAS 280 trials bike. Its a bit rough but otherwise what I am looking for. The deal would be the bike plus cash.

What do you dickweeds think?

I think u should sell both the thumper and the 500 and buy a CRF50.

Get the 2 Stroke 250. I've seen a lot of people put the 01 motor in a newer chassis - nothing new. Plus 01's are out there for cheap. Where are you going to really use the trials bike? Sure it'd be fun every now and then...but in all reality, you'd use the 250 more.

Oh ya - then you have to change your name too...unless you want to leave the acronym open to interpretation.

Actually I plan to set up some stuff in my back yard like some tractor tires, logs, etc. So I can mess around whenever I feel like trials stuff...

I like the sound of the 01 engine in the late model CR / CRF frame, but when in doubt try both of them ( 250 and the trials )
