TRX250r ignition?

Post by nmdesertrider »

Would this work with a cr500? I know the trannies share a lot of different parts, wonder if the flywheel matches up.

We have been trying to put together a night setup and there are lots of lighting coil options for the trx.

i believe the flywheel fits and youll need to get a wider cover similar to the e-line but beyond that i dont know the specifics. guy named freemer on here was using one on his bike for years. i asked him about it and he told me how to make it work but i cant recall all the specifics. problem is bob kicked off freemer and wont let him back i guess. you might be shit out of luck unless you get ahold of freemer :D

I scrounged up a flywheel from a 250R 3-wheeler, just to see how it compared.
The diameter is way too big. It wouldn't even come close to fitting inside the side case.

Freemer used a rewound trx250r stator and a custom backing plate, and had the outer case cut and welded with a different shape to accomodate the bigger unit. He had like 100 watts from it and the ignition made that engine scream.
