If I had the money I would be all over one.

And before you go dumping shitloads of money into the bike you need to realise there is always someone faster

IMO there is no ultimate dune bike, if its built for the drags it wont do well at duning if its made for riding the razors it wont do well at the drags....

The fastest things Ive been around in the dunes are the drag alky banshees, there aint a cr500 in the world that will touch one of those fukers. But they cant dune them.

qauds are faster because the chassis and tires work 1000 times better in the sand. if the qaud has less power it still usually wins.

depending on where you like to ride... bottom mid or mid top.. i would go with porting, decked head, 41mm pwk and either a pro circuit or gnarly depending on the riding style. I have seen some super worked 500's not running high dollar fancy pipes whoop the ever living daylights outta some bikes. I believe there was one at dumont that gave brit a run for his money on the nitrous bike!

there was a dude on a qaud site and his freind was using the pipe and he said it worked tits. all the other cpi pipes work good so i dont see why this one would be any different. probly alot of folks around here wanting to give it a try but the extra cash isnt available right now. i remeber when i went to packards shop he showed me like 4 of his drag bikes and every one of them had cpi. if cpi sucked you can rest assured he wouldnt be using them.

don't deck it. I ran a decked head and a properly reshaped head with far less compression side by side and the decked head is crap in the sand. hurts topend and makes launches harder to control. I've gone through all the details of building the ultimate dune bike and agree %100 w/ brit. my gen-1 isn't much fun to roll bowls with anymore and to drag it needs an extension. so now its hard to control to rolling around and near impossible to launch with in the drags. a 41mm carb w/ powerjet is awesome in the dunes, keeps it pulling hard for long periods of WFO. the cpi pipe would be nice. 250 ignition is awesome in the dunes and some good porting work.

wich year 250 ignition are you refering to? any link to wireing one of these up? I am from the midwest, our "duneing" is more ...Well lame... compared to that of glamis, dumont, sand mtn. etc.. We do more of 300 + ft grudge racing and our dunes are very small compared to that of the abouve listed dunes.

I like my CPI pipe, but I need port work bad, the revs are good but just when you realy start to feel it pull hard it lays down. I have 94 cr250 flywheel and ignition, lectron 44mm carb. STOCK JUG  I hope to have the port work done this winter by Glen.

dude your right in packards backyard. he builds some of the fastest shit out there and knows a much or more than anybody about the cr500. k&t is also in your neck of the woods.

this is his honda saber. dont quote me but i believe he had the fastest single cylinder bike for quit a while. a few weeks ago someone ended up beating him.

I see some people are running JUST the cr250 cdi 94-96....

I see some people talking about needing to advance the cr250 plate 10 degrees? I also read that you can ONLY get 5 degrees out of the cr250 plate.. Doing so allows for easier starting? ALSO re winding the stator to allow for a hotter spark allows for easier starting.... Am I on the right track or are you guys just bolting these on and going?

Got them used from a guy on www.kingofthehill.org

The KX cap is a higher pressure than the CR one, the nitrous makes it run really hot so cooling has been an issue, the KX cap fixed that.

Yea I have talked to Dennis, I know he knows alot but when he told me that extra intake ports are not possible and 80 hp is not possible I just feel I might be better off with Glen. Thanks
