Whats your take on it when converting an AF? Does it need to be done?

Are you talking annealing, or pre-heating the aluminum before welding?

No, and no.

In my opinion, heat treating a frame after the welding is done and new material is added, is a good thing, a real good thing, but that doesn't mean it's 100 percent neccesary. I base my opinion on other fabrication stuff, and not actual AF frame modding.
