older cdi in newer motor

Post by rjt500 »

Anyone know if an 91 cr500 cdi is compatible with the 98 cr500 ignition componets? Have a 98 cr500 that the cdi wires were cut at the very bottom of the cdi with really no way to repair them. Bought a 91 cr500 cdi from ebay, part #'s are different. Do i need to change any ignition parts to use the 91 cdi?

It should work.... the ignition curve is prolly' a little zippier... Every year the factory riders asked for the bike to be tamed down.... so Honda did.

Ride a '86, if you want proof....

danny,
what is the ignition set up you are running on your 86' engine ?
OLD: You don't know what the f--k you're doing.
