SERVICE HONDA CR250AF ???

Post by BIGGDAD »

With the AMA rule changes regarding 250 2 strokes in the amatuer 250 class, Service has decided to capitalize on the lack of a Honda 250 2 stroke.

Yeah saw this - I believe they're using an 01 motor! Should tell ya something about those later case-reed motors...

Yep, definitely an '01 engine. Sweet bike but, for that price, it's gotta' have a 500 engine in it.

I think it's a great idea- for as much as those POS CRF250's blow up, they should not have a hard time selling off those engines

Imagine what you would end uo with the same budget applied to a late model aluminum-framed YZ250...

I actually like the case reed 250 motor and once jetted and with a few mods done they're very fast.I remember RC pulling holeshots outdoors against 450 cheater bikes and was always in the top three at least going into the first turn. He even had a perfect season on it and smoked Everts on his home track who was on a factory 450 yamaha. I even heard RCs 250 was stock. Actually a friend has an 03 and it's pretty damned fast.

my 02 was way faster than bros 00, stock to stock, and with his gnarly it was the same way, and hes always been atleast 30lbs lighter , his 03 250 is faster than my '02, the '03 has a tps is the only difference.
The case reed engiens pull way harder the whole way, but expecially outta the hole, the 00-01 is soft feeling til its revving hard, and it does rev higher, but its a power you gotta search thru the rpm for

x2 it's too expensive for a 250cc

Yamaha still offers the aluminium framed YZ and KTM,Husqvarna,ect...

are improving and selling their models for almost 4000$ less or more

In 100% agreement with you there...... Aj should have put a case reed engine in that 250f. My recent Gen III 250's would have railed on my 00 and 01 250's. They didnt run super fantastic coming off the floor but once it got a pipe, reeds and a properly jetted Airstryker, They just rocked. The 01 engine ran better out of the Box but both being modded equally, the new engine was better. Pretty much electric feeling in comparison.
