" Yup, the All- Terrain Cycle, or ATC, was introduced by Honda to let people who didn't have the skills to balance a regular two-wheeled bike ride in the dirt. Cute little buggers, the ATCs sold like crazy. Then savvy people started noticing that they handled like a shopping cart loaded with bowling balls with one locked front wheel going down a flight of stairs.

People started doing wonderful things like riding over their own legs and biffing over..!

"It also had ancient Girling shocks that lived to puke seals and forks that had more metal shavings than fork oil in each leg. The exhaust burned your leg, brakes were gruesome and shifting was ugly. It also seeped mung and drool out of every gasket surface. Handling was best described as spooky. The engine pinged like it was running on kerosene and items fell off the bike like they were held on with Scotch tape."

Is this the description for the Husky 450, or Brits A/F ?

The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...

Although I have to disagree on the ATC thing... in order to not run over your legs or go over the bars takes a great amount of skill

I have never had a ride on any of those bikes.

The bloke I work for owned a TM400 a long time ago and he swears by it and RAVES about it.

For as long as I have known him, he can't remember $h!t (5 minutes ago) he is a liar, bull$h!t artist and he EXAGGERATES every story he has ever told.

I would trust anyone of you guys over him anyday for a true report of how good a TM400 really was.

its pride of ownership too. If he actually had a tm400 and was very proud of it at the time he will never say anything bad about it
Just like how MY stealth is better than my friends rx-7, is it really...well that is a matter of opinion, but I'm biased. Ask MFDB about his duramax and its the best most badass truck ever even if its spent more time at the stealership than a mercedes w/ ecu problems

I agree with the ownership part, it is your bike so it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks as long as you are happy.

BUT! the dude is a BULL$H!T ARTIST LIAR!

I hope that makes it a little bit clearer.

for most backyard warriors, quite a few of those issues wouldnt matter, or be all too noticeable, especially given the time these bikes were released.

besides, all people remember about these were the stupidly retarded powerband hits that would throw your ass in the giggleweeds before you can shit your pants.

They had shit suspension, what didn't back then? Lock to Lock steering was dangerous and overall were a brutal bike to ride, but in a straight line they were a hell of a lot of fun.

Surprised the RM 370 did not make the list. Anyone ride one of those?
