moto temp strip

Post by yota »

I got this thing free with some subtanks I bought about 5 years ago and never used it. took this pic after about an hour of pretty hard riding, shows temp in the 228 range. wonder how accurate it is?

It could be off 40° and still be more accurate than any of us determining with our highly developed super power known as the "touch and feel"

I don't understand why the strip only reads to 248°? Seems if it was intended to go on the cylinder, case and radiator is should reflect temps atleast to 260° and a good deal more for thumpers. Shit 250° is just operating temp for a fourstroke.

Can you take them off and put them back on? Or will it destroy them taking it off like an OHV decal?

haven't tried but would probably not stick as well if removed, my guess. Seems to be well adhered now, I cleaned the spot with brake cleaner and then "purple stuff" before application.

I also thought the max reading a bit low, but apparently high enough for this motor.
