A quick "How ya'Do", and a photo would be nice.

New guy working on a CR500AF Motard

Post by slowwrx »

My names Matt, I'm sitting in a chair in my living room with a broken wrist. Three days ago I dropped my DRZ up in the north ga mountains, do all I have had to do is play on the net the last few days. I was already thinking about getting something a little quicker and after doing some reading I decided to do a Gen 1 CR250 with a 500 motor in it. I've started ordering parts hopefully a 500 will pop up locally.

Edit Just got the frame, working on getting a motor right now

you'll have a blast, but realistically, and i hate to say it, but they lean a little to the novelty/just for fun side of the motard spectrum. that, and when you gear it tall enough for the street, you're going to want to port it and whatnot. i know i plan to get mine ported next year so it will pull harder. it's a freakin blast though. at times i'm glad i have my XR for the longer days though.

in the end, out of the bikes i've owned and ridden, the XR650R is pretty dang hard to beat overall as it's pretty good at most everything. i sure did love my CRF450X tard though, and wish i could afford to have another one and still keep my current bikes
