You have 2 families..."Jose Legal" and "Jose Illegal". Both families have 2 parents, 2 children and live in California.

"Jose Legal" works in construction, has a Social Security Number, and makes $25.00 per hour with payroll taxes deducted...."Jose Illegal" also works in construction, has "NO" Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table".

Jose Legal...$25.00 per hour x 40 hours $1000.00 per week, $52,000 per year
Now take 30% away for state and federal tax
Jose Legal now has $31,231.00


Jose Illegal...$15.00 per hour x 40 hours $600.00 per week, $31,200.00 per year
Jose Illegal pays no taxes...
Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00


Jose Legal pays Medical and Dental Insurance with limited coverage

I don't know why in the U.S.A

with the U.S nationality

you have to pay for medical insurance or pay the doctors

if your children is ill

i agree there's a lot of goodies if your are citizen of the U.S.A



but in my country,all the people have medical assistance for free,even

Illegal people is allover the world and i agree

with a bunch of the things said,but i never heard somebody

telling the real truth,the governmment is the gilty of this situation

everywhere,example:

In Spain,whe have 1 million of ecuadoreans(south americans the 40% for theft+moroccans(muslims)70% theft or drug dealers+rumanians(lot of gypsies who came here only for theft)

We are now 46 millions (6 millions of people from abroad in the last 5 years) in 2004 we was 40 millions,and there was a lot of inmigrants legals or not

'cos here the owner of a business must pay 300,400 or more for a

legal worker+the salary and all is well defined in a contract if the guy doen't work you must pay more ifyou don't have real motivations for fired him,for an illegal you could say 30€-41$ a day(it's a low wage)

you put the wage and if the guy don't want to work ,tomorrow he will be fired,the owner takes good money from him avoiding taxes so

he goes the satuday with his wife to a good restaurant,put full gas in the car or make a little trip in the weekend

things are more or less the same everywhere though...

If you think your health care is free, you need look at the comparative tax rates between the USA and Spain. I believe it to be a socialized model where everyone pays through taxes and then universal coverage is provided.. If this is like the NHS in the UK, service is then rationed on the basis of need because there is never enough money to go around.

O.K an example if somebody earn 1000€ here he takes 800€ clean

and don't have to worry about medical care,i don't know how things work

in the U.K or in the U.S,if somebody in the U.S earn

Yes is true somepeople work for the free medical care of others but you are included,your relatives,your family,etc...

Even i prefer to pay more taxes than give my money to a private

insurance corporation,see my point

If you are economically productive and can afford health insurance, you'll get a more responsive un-rationed service here in the US. You'll also earn more and pay less tax in % terms. If however you are poor, sick, need cheap higher education, or any other kind of Government handout, you're in relative trouble. This has been my consistent experience moving here from the UK.

In general terms, Europe is more socialist, particularly with respect to health care. You don't get to see what it costs - because you don't pay directly - and I challenge you to prove that any Government run model is more efficient than the free market. What happens in practice is because there are no pricing constraints on people's expectations, the service ends up being rationed by the medical professionals and Government. Anyone who can then goes outside the socialized system for prompt care of their choice. So in fact they end up paying twice.

Unfortunately for some of us in the US, the Big Government proponents of both the left and the right want more and more intervention with the resulting economic inefficiencies. This will be evidenced by European style taxation and long-term unemployment levels. Both of these are historically lower here.

They are even considering a Value-Added Tax here. People freak when sales tax is around 8% - how much is it in Spain? Still 17.5%? That should put a nice dent in an economic recovery.
