I was parked next to these guys from west Fargo, he'd just finished this install and things fit excellently. The airbox mod was using the face of the steelie including the boot and grafting it into the yammy, the down tubes were installed with the right hand ones upper section beeing attatched at the foreward part of the down tube, and the lh at the rear, cosmetically odd, but appears to make sense. Radiators and tank required no modifications , even with a standard plug, longer cdi wires were needed, pipe hangers all had room and fit clean.

Roostious, have you got more pictures?

At the risk of getting excommunicated, this one & the yellow one I've seen really look good. Sort of , Right , if you get my meaning? The less bulky frame members just seem to sit right with the 500 motor. And in white, it gets away from being so obviously a Yamaha.

What I really would like to see done is the 500 in the 250 2 stroke Yamaha alloy chassis. They have never been criticized for any weird handling issues as have the 4t ones, have ( in the later models ) the SSS suspension & then I'd just go to white plastics. It would be an up to date version of the Italian alloy conventional framed bike in my avitar.

As if anyone would need further convincing of factories ignoring 2ts, just before the Glen Helen 2t race I saw on a site (MXA's?) that Doug Dubach had saved 1.5lbs off his 250 by just slipping in the 09 4t swingarm & wheel that bolted right into the 2t chassis - can only assume factory disinterest or them just having many swingarm units made already

i only got the 3 pics, but i'll be seeing these guys again july 5th in fordville, next time i'll be camera equipped instead of phone pics.
I also seen the worst conversion ever, a '00 cr250 chassis with a kx 500 in it. the pipe was mounted only by the rear hanger, and the swingarms front radius didnt completely clear the engine cases near the kicker, atleast the guy treated it like it looked. He'd leave it laying in the grass til it was time to ride. it shook like a cat shittin razor blades too

i'll see that "kawaonda" bike on the 5th aswell, dude had markered that on the clutch cover, i watched the vid yesterday and cant say for sure now that its a 500kx, dude ran it early 500 or late 250 class, he kinda just came tot he line whenever he wanted. either way in the vid its too far away to get a good look

it looks like a kx250 because of the way the power valve looks and the clutch cover.

the bike I posted is a little different, heres what it say on the BTR website (the place that made it)

This started out as a 2006 Yamaha YZF 450, it now uses a 1986 CR 500 for power. Heavy modifications were required in the front down tubes of the frame as to accommidate the new exhaust port location. A complete new air box was fabricated from aluminum and resides inside the stock airbox.

im pretty sure it has a billet y piece and a new cradle, the pipe mounts were cut off and tig welded in the proper place and the silencer only uses the bottom mount, the top one was cut off

Frame mods don't look as good as a Honda comes up.
It may be the only way to get the CR500 in there.

well, i imagine that honda bikes are a lot alike, whereas the yammie is totally different, causing the mods to be a bit more noticable.

i like it, it isnt a hack job, and its definitely unique.

Havent these guys heard of a flap disc?? Smooth out those crappy lookin welds!

But I like the bike - very unique. Wonder how it rides compared to the AF....
