I had no roller so I constructed this entirely from parts I collected. I bought one scrapped bike that gave me the wheels, subframe, rad, swingarm and forks. The rest I collected over the past year from anywhere I could. I bought tires, bearings, bars, etc. and OEM parts to fill in the gaps.

Awesome!
Now go ride the bag off of it!
I have almost collected enough parts to put another gen1 together.
Can't wait to have two of them at my disposal!

Bike looks great...and you did it the hard way, rounding up parts as you went. The anticipation was probably killing you on those last few parts, eh? One word of advice, though: you should move that front brake line to the inside of the fork so it doesn't snag something, like a fellow rider's footpeg(!!!). Please don't ask me how I know that. Happy riding.
Cable
Thanks - I will have to replace the fork guard since it has a goove worn in it. Obviously the guy that had those parts didn't know any better either. Waiting on the the last few things were bad and getting the time to complete was worst. Now I have to get the PJ choke woking. My father helped out a lot with the fabrication.ridin4fun wrote:Bike looks great...and you did it the hard way, rounding up parts as you went. Power
Riding it is very fun - I was riding up a hill on a dirt road the other day in 4th gear, standing and I starting thinking "hhhmmm the front wheel isn't touching the ground anymore" and it wasn't - awesome. There is no other bike for me now - it is CR500 or nothing.ridin4fun wrote:Bike looks great...and you did it the hard way, rounding up parts as you went. looks nice, i pilfered suspension and stuff from my gen3 250 to build on the bare 250 chassis so now my once minty 250 sits witout suspension or wheels awaiting decent prices on getting it back together, but it likely wont get ridden anyways

PICS of which bike.
The 1984 CR500RE that I owned twice and sold twice.
Or the 1987 CR500RH that I sold.
Or the 1988 CR500RJ that I sold.
Or the 2001 CR500R1 that is heartless, and the heart is looking for a new body.
The 84 I think I have pics somewhere that were taken back in the last half of 84.
The 87 I don't think so.
The 88 I don't think so.
The 01 no I don't.
Why don't I have pics, don't own cam / can't use one anyway F@#KEN hopeless.
Wife owns cam, but hasn't got time to put up with me.
Sorry I can't help you yet.
Cheers thanks for asking.![Wink ](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
