Are Wheels Just Wheels?

I got a chance to buy a new set of Excell wheels complete - from a parted 2008 WR450. I am wondering if these would fit my 1999 CR500AF I am building. Are there differences in axle diameter / hub width etc. or are they all the same outside of size? Perhaps I would need to modify the CR spacers?
