Our sport's achilles' heel

Post by MICK »

So many other racing promoters and organizers are actively involved in retrograting two strokes into current professional competition and yet here in the states we're only "thinking" about it?? Why?

Because no other country has one of these...
CALIFORNIA

Sierra Club
National Headquarters
San Francisco, CA 94105

"Over 675,000 acres of unprotected wilderness on public lands in California have been lost in the past decade due to abuse by off-road vehicles, and other human-caused destruction. Now is the time to permanently save what's left of California's wildlands!"

"The campaign was begun as an effort to survey and map all remaining federal wild lands and rivers in our state. Now that has been accomplished, and we have moved on to the goal of permanent protection for all deserving places."

"Pop Quiz: Which machine creates the most air pollution per hour of operation: the typical car, gasoline-powered lawn mower or gasoline-powered string trimmer?
Answer: To perhaps many readers’ surprise, the automobile would very much be the wrong answer. Each of these engines emits carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrocarbons and ozone recursors—pollutants that harm regional public health and global climate. But operating a typical 4-hp gasoline-powered mower for one hour yields as much of those pollutants as driving a typical car from Louisville to Richmond and back again! And operating a gasoline-powered string trimmer pollutes even more. Gasoline-powered landscaping equipment—as well as many outboard motors, chain saws and leaf blowers, plus some snowmobiles and smaller motorcycles—operate on two-stroke (or two-cycle) engines. These internal combustion engines offer smaller size and lighter weight; however, their poorer combustion efficiency yields much more pollution than do four-stroke engines."

"California is going to ban leaf blowers and gas-powered lawn mowers and I say, hoo-fricking-ray for that! I mean, forget the pollution for a second. The leaf blower has to be in the running for the worst invention of all time. Let's face it: There's nothing a leaf blower does that a rake can't do better. Aleaf blower is the devil's own power tool.

Okay. As long as we're banning stuff, what else should go?"

Californians responses: and I quote
1. 2-stroke engines
2. jet skis and snow mobiles...
3. Yes, Yes, Yes!! Jetskis and Snowmobiles!!!
4. auto racing
5. I second snowmobiles and auto racing.

...and it goes onto some intersting ideas:
6. garages that hold more than two cars.

...here's the best:
7. overhead garage door openers are lame. Get the lard out and open that darn door manually!
Once its open, if you find a two cycle engine, dismantle it for recycing

...and finally someone who makes sense:
8. How about banning California? And Arizona too...

The leaf blower and lawn mower ban turned out to be only in curtain cities. Not the entire state. But they're working on it...

Thanks cali...you're the best

It's not about Cali,i think is all over the world,e.g:in Spain in some counties you can't ride more than 7 persons(motorbikes) and never in a track more wide than 13,123 feet(it's stupid but the law is the law)

But the same in the same track a HUMMER or a tractor could pass if they are going to catch fish or to work,i never understand it but i think that ecverywhere people have the same feeling they want to delete off-road motorbikes...

About two strokes the same if people don't say nothing we only have to wait that a "great brain" will make a law for fuck us...all of us.

Its not called Kommiefornia for nothing. As far as the mapping and conservation plan goes, thats planned for the entire nation.

I just experienced trails closed off in the Rand mountains for some odd reason. So effing lame, its the goddamn desert! I found out that those signs are pretty resilient! ;)
