The big picture......

You have to read the whole story.....

Plucky NASA Rovers Complete Fifth Year on Mars

When it comes to Mars missions, NASA's twin rovers Spirit and Opportunity seem to be the robots that never quit.

The two plucky probes were each built for a 90-day romp across the Martian surface, a mission that began when Spirit bounced to a stop on the planet's expansive Gusev Crater five years ago today. Opportunity touched down on the other side of Mars a few weeks later and now - after half a decade - both rovers are still exploring the red planet after surviving more than 20 times their planned lifetime.

"The American taxpayer was told three months for each rover was the prime mission plan," said Ed Weiler, NASA's associate administrator for science missions at the agency's Washington, D.C., headquarters, in a statement. "The twins have worked almost 20 times that long. That's an extraordinary return of investment in these challenging budgetary times."

Sounds pretty good right..... Tax payer finally getting his moneys worth.... right???

The final line of the story.

The rovers reportedly cost about $20 million each to operate a year since their 2004 arrivals on Mars.

Nasa has spent $160,000,000 to keep these friggin' R/C's ...spinning donuts on Mars for the last 4 years!!!!

I'm sure it cost Spain and France and England alot of money when they sent their explorers across the ocean to wherever the fuck back in 1400's and they ended up discovering America for fuck sakes...Alls i'm saying is exploration is necessary to learn and expand our species' knowledge. So every taxpaying american has to pay one dollar to keep these things on mars...big deal.

Ya but if some asshole never got in the boat and came across then we would never be living in this amazing continent, we would never have ''discovered'' it. Doesn't mean it won't be worth understanding how one of the other planets in our solar system functions...If you think that way then you might as well be against every Nasa mission there is...i doubt ANY space endeavor is cheap...

I think we should use the money they piss away and fix some of the shit thats broke here berfore we worry about going and screwing up another planet! Think of all the homeless vet and children who could benefit from the billions they basically burn every year. The country is going down the bowl economically but there still flying their spaceships at the mear cost of billions a year.

I totally agree with that. We should be worrying about our own planet and our own species first, but just because there is a bunch of broke people doesn't mean we should bail those jerks out before we explore. Just because some people are much less fortunate shouldn't make the difference between us better understanding the solar system or not. Whatever i don't give a fuck Naza is a joke...but space exploration should be taken seriously imo...

Yep thats one of them there are three movies total that he has done and one book. All of them are excellent. Seems every year people are uncovering more declassified documents to add to the impressive claims made by Cook's research.

Have you read the book? I'm not going to change your mind if its already made up, but Cook's book has some evidence in it that is irrefutable. One of the most important parts of the whole story is the author himself. He is genuinely interested and has the connections to get as close to the truth as anybody ever has. I'm not a big ufo buff by any means, that part of the story is very minor but interesting. The most interesting part is the historical references to the likes of operation paperclip and what we brought back to the U.S. as far as technology and the ideology that came with it. Pretty far reaching and down right scary what could have been accomplished in 60yrs. There is no way to say that part didn't happen only how advanced and with what intentions can be argued. I find it immensely interesting and thought I would share some of my recent reading.

All this stories about UFO's is really bullshits(for me)..i want to see one or two for say them "stop fuckin' right now",they appears in deserts,in the late night when people comes from a disco full of tequila or whatever, even some people see them,o.k. i think that it's just a proto that somebody did and the crew up the legend, like ninjas, like bogyman,i rode the desert wide and lost and nobody appears........

NO PROOFS ARE POSSIBLE ONLY WHAT WE SEE/SAW AND THEN BELIEVE THE 50% SHOULD BE A TRICK

For those who are patient check that (speculations, legends and stories for bored people),THE OTHERS DON'T CHECK THIS it's really a boring terrible
