'05-'08 crf 450 motor resale ?

i see a few of these on ebay starting at $1,000 and going up from there just for the motor with no carb, pipe or electrics. whos buying these motors and are they moving or are they sitting on ebay for months at a time ? just wondering if ill be sitting on a 450 motor for months trying to get rid of it, and then have to practically give it away to get it out of my garage. has anyone done AF conversion with '05-'08 and have any input on how easy or hard it was to sell the motor, pipe and electrics ?
