Has anyone wrenched on a Banshee?

Post by Travis »

You guys that ride the dunes surely have a friend or know someone who rides a Banshee. How hard are these to get the Carbs tuned? I have found a heck of a deal on one That has fmf pipes and silencers and brand new tires. It is an 01 for 1200. The carbs need some adjustment he says but it runs. I may pick it up if I can turn around a few dollars on it.

Many years ago I had one that I bored out a little bit, did some head and port work.
Wasnt happy with the stock carbs.
I cut them on a lathe and made some improvement, then I eventually put them on the shelf and upgraded to some bigger carbs.
I cant remember which size and model I switched to, but I was never able to get it perfect and I just sold it.
Yah, I'm from Saskatchetoon!

'01 for $1200 is good deal. provided it doesnt have any hidden problems, check it over real close because alot of times punk kids buy them and think they know how to make them faster so they buy a bunch of aftermarket crap and then cant ever make it run right. i was checking out one about that same year and it was bone stock for little over 2K. the hard part i noticed when buying a banshee is finding a stock one that some piddle dick knucklehead hasnt messed with yet.

sounds like a good deal. Talk to MFDB, his girl has a banshee.
if I remember correctly, they are super easy to tune if like 100hp was saying, some punk ass didn't go to town with every mod on the thing.
just clean the carbs, set them back to stock and fine tune from there.
