What kind of hone do yall use to hone your cyl? I have always used a 3 stone and oil hone. but I went to use it on the 500 and the stones get caught on the ports.... I have never run in to this before but then I have never used it on a 2 stroke 500 either. Is a ball hone reccomended?

Did you relieve the ports? You are going to have to do that anyway so the piston rings don't do the same thing.

They make long stones for hones. With longer stones you shouldn't have a problem or you could get a ball hone instead.

longer stones for sure, thats what I need. mine are riveted in though so I think I will have to just get a new one. I hate breaking in new stones though, I usually use it in a trash cyl. first to break the rough edges off and to saturate the stones with oil.
