Ok so me and PP were in chat the other day and the subject of my bike came up (go-figure ) anyways I presented him a sound clip of me going 4th WOT up a hill, here is the sound clip: http://www.xylicon.com/box/otherstuff/Climb.mp3
He said it sounded like there was something sticking and or binding up in the case/gearbox, following his suggestions I took out my spark plug, put the bike in gear and the rear wheel would only spin if I forced it. It was acting like as if I never took the spark plug out. Then I proceeded to crank the kicker and it too felt like the spark plug hadn't been removed, it felt like there was still a considerable amount of compression/resistance coming from somewhere.
You need to narrow things down a bit. Put the bike in neutral. The spin the rear wheel. Does it spin freely?? What shape are the bearings in?? Chain/sprockets?? With the trans in neutral and the plug out, kick it over. Does it still bind?? Etc. etc...

The wheels spins freely when in neutral. By bearings do you mean rear wheel? If so they are new. Chain and sprockets aren't the issue here. When its in neutral with the plug out the kicker still has a decent amount of compression on it, like as if the spark plug was just threaded on there by a hair.
I'd be wanting to see what kind of shape the crank bearings are in.
With the gearbox in neutral, it's taking the rear wheel bearings, and the chain/sprockets out of the picture. The only thing left then is when you're kicking it over the only thing you're really moving that would be moving with the rear wheel is the crank/clutch stuff.
Sounds like something in the motor or primary...pull it apart...im wondering if you might have broke a ring or fragged the piston and a piece is wedged in between the crank or piston...

I know a 500 will run for a while - but broken ring stuck - nah doubt it.
Danny's 125 tranny had a similar issue where it was all gummed up. Since he had no $$ to tear it down, we simply changed the fluid several times and it improved.
The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...
If this bike is regularly riddin theres little chance its "all gummed up". I betting on some type of mechanical failure. Doubt rings?? Much experience?? I cooked a piston which welded the rings and the bike did exactly what hes talking about...

Brit bought a 500 that sat for YEARS.... fired 3rd kick... and thats what he's riding now in his A/F.
To bad it doesnt start that easy now...HAHAHAHA

Yeah, maybe he likes attention like me...and this guy...

......period.
TOTALLY...my bike still ran "ok" even tho I welded both rings inside their lands. I guess it smeared enough aluminIUM (as Britt calls it) on the bore to seal it up well enough to run!! Dont confuse "Drag" with "compression"!!

I would guess main, rod bearings or seized topend. my bike ran fine but sounded terrible when I busted up a main bearing.
my old 125 was run witout trans oil before I got it, so some of the gears partially fused to the shafts and made it pull in neutral an gave the wheel a lot of resistance. some good ATF getting changed atfer everyride cleared it up in a few hours. that didn't make any noise though.

Now that is what I think. Definetly not seized top end issues.
No reason to get all defensive, but if you had followed his story, you would know that he has a new top end, and the bike had the same issue before the new top end as well.
I think it is case splitting time. When my main bearings fell apart a bunch of peices came off and banged around. best to split the cases and get to the bottom of this before that motor turns into a very large paper weight!

uuhhhh...my comment was the first one so I think I have been following along??
Trust me I aint getting defensive, you would have recieved a "steamer" by now if I was...

You don't get it. His "story" has been ongoing for months, not just this post. That's why Bob commented that others have offered help before. So roll your eyes, offer up piles of poop, whatever floats your boat, fact is you are wrong with your diagnosis, live with it.
Jesus, has anyone considered that when the piston comes down to a curtin point that the reeds close and there is compression of the AF mixture making it act like the plug was never removed.
The sound track sounds pretty normal to me. A side for it not being WOT.

I dont think that the reed/crank compression is even 1/2 of the spark plug in/combustion chamber resistance...but yes someone MIGHT possibly confuse that as a problem (after removing the plug)...
