Crack behind the kicker shaft..

Post by smokindodge »

What do you guys think about this. I am a little pissed off at myself and the guy I bought the bike from. he had JB weld over this shitty repair job so I couldn't tell what it looked like. What is going to be the best way to fix this? Am I looking at a new case? If it can be welded do I need to split the cases or can we patch it up with it assembled? What do you think?

I would leave it the hell alone and ride it!
if it works don't fix it, the proper fix is a new case half, I''ve heard of people successfully welding them, but if its holding up, I'd leave it alone.

it is ok for the time being. it is weeping a little bit of oil out of those cracks. My current approach is to park on a hill whenever possible to avoid using the kicker

It depends how far fron the truck you ride...

For me, a 25 mile push would suck, case halves are pretty cheap in comparison.

Rob129 got screwed over by Big D on the same issue...

It happens, but its not supposed to between fellow Hoons.....

that was pretty shitty, didn't bigD also get Shanmans old gen-1?
I remember following him though the "c" loop in AZ when he kept talking smach on MFDB and I and he ended up puking all over the place! that was still a fun ride, I felt bad for Mojo though, he was stuck behind my slow ass!

first off let me tell anybody that doesnt already know, jb weld sucks and should only be used as very last resort for temporary fix- this is my opinion of course because i hate half ass shit. doesnt look like that dude even scraped the paint before he applied the jb weld, which renders it practically useless other than add to the eye sore-looks like someone also took a grinder to that area in question. this half ass patch job wont last long on the kicker area where alot of weight and force is applied. Drain the oil, lay the bike on its side, pull the pipe, hoses and all necesary parts off, then pull off that cover and see if it can be fixed by welding---- if not, then buy a new side cover....this is only what i would do based on the photos, but of course use your own judgement

What are the chances of forming a piece to weld over the top of this? Are there pieces that are going to break down inside??

This was my avatar for about 15 seconds..... was the "Last Straw" over at the other place, and was directly responsable for getting me the boot there, and the creation of this site...

Who knew the truth was so dangerous to post about?

I thought it was the "remove VH as a mod" thread in the suggestions forum but that lasted about as long as your avatar.

There was a lot that happened leading up to this site, Ill try and list 'em

1. The fuked up motor rip off fiasco that was kept hush hush as the admid/mods were buddies with the offender.

2. The remove VH thread

3. Rjacks getting me on the "replace every bearing" AF roller and then nothing being done

4. Me giving 100hp shit and that being blown out of all proportion by a menstral admin.

5. AP contradicting himself daily with the no political stuff and gun control threads.

6. Bob being a bitch

7. Me being a bitch

8. Lots of "secret handshake" stuff going on in the mod only forum

Thats all I can remember for now

Very interesting, love to hear the story. On another site I used to frequent there was a vendor that sold axles and had sold a complete dana 60 to the main man of the site. He charged a thousand bucks for this axle, and said it was all good. Well, it was not all good, it had broken parts inside and SAND. That vendor got axed off the site and has paid dearly for his actions in the form of bad rep and loss of sales. Big D is not a frequent poster on the cr500 riders board, but I have met him and he was very nice to me, bummer that he screwed a fellow hoon and got the admin free pass. :?
