How do the old FMF fatties compare to the other pipes that are still available? Mostly compared to a PC pipe if anyone has run both. I know what a gnarly is all about. Not supermoto friendly.
the fatty is a very desireably pipe...it has very similar characteristics as the stocker, but will gove you a bit more down low and has good overrev. They don't sell it anymore and when I e-mailed them asking about it, they didn't think I was important enough to get a response... assholes!
just go with the PC

I also have a fatty on my 88. I have ressurected it three times from cracks and dents just keep it! I tried the pc but personally the fatty just does it for me.
i dont own assault rifles, i own homeland defense rifles!!!!
Well, i just bought one that's absolutly perfect for my gen2 supermoto. Once I get this thing together i'm gonna get the bike on a friends dyno and try a bunch of different pipes and see what the truth is, after I hack it to make it fit.
FMF told me they stopped making the Fatty because it didnt hold up on the 500. Thats why the Gnarly is "beefed up" so much over the Fatty. My guess is it was pretty much the same pipe as a PC so they figured heck with it.
I heard Bills pipe for the hundy was the shiznit, but he told me hes not going to get anymore as there isnt enough demand anymore...
If you ask me, why try to completely change the 500 motors designed power band when you can easily maximize its standard characteritics (big bottom end torque) after all, its torque that gets you out of the corners fastest...
Faster then Speedy Gonzalez, slower then the Road Runner!!! MEEP MEEP
