Gen 3 2002 CR250 Conversion

Post by rikdogski »

Old CR500. 92 motor. 98 front end, 98 shock. 96 frame. Powdercoated frame and swingarm. Didn't really like the look of the swingarm, but got the frame, subframe, and swingarm off ebay already registered and my current stock white frame wasn't. So I swapped over the entire bike onto the new frame.

And it all torn down :'(

2002 CR250 with all modifications done. CP500 conversion kit. Don't have pics of the bike as a bike, but I bought it in decent shape for $1500. Has gold excel rims. Selling all the usual parts to recoup some $$$$$$.Image

Tons of clearance.

Front and sides of the Y connecting to downtube.

Lower frame tube weld.

Coil Mount front and backside

Expansion chamber mount. Had it mig welded. Had to clean up the weld a bit. I think it looks decent.

And a pic of why I wanted to transplant the best dirtbike motor ever into a modern chassis. These other ones are just too small. 125, 250, 500 pistons.

More to come.

How do the welds look? I noticed that the weld looks skinny compared to other welds I've seen on other builds.

Other than the skinnyness I think it looks good?

Can't wait to ride it!
