Air box pictures
Does anyone have any pictures of a gen3 air box? Seems like everyone breezed through the air boot modification, I cant find much info on it, ither than a little info in Baclava's thread, and it seems the 99CR250 air boot was the part to use. Other than that, I havent found much info on it.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Bob, his is a gen3 450.
Buy a 1999 cr250 airbox off eBay...
Cut the front out of the box, make an adapter plate to fit the boot and filter cage to the front of the 450'airbox, pop rivets and sealant the plate in place.
Some people use aluminum, some swear by plexiglass as it's like having X-ray vision for fitting it all up. Then paint it black once done.
Many ways to skin a this cat... Just make sure it should all fit "natural" and not have to be forced in place... A forced in place boot will pop off, separate or even pull the carb out of the intake.

The bodywork stuff all looks the same as my 250, or is this like a gen3.5?

except sealing it up, the gen 3 were famous foe leaking dirt into the engine, been thereGen 3 is a zero mod de-lee-o.....

02-03There are no "Gen3" 450's....
the 450 will have less power and will be harder to start, and will be heavier, but to make up for it it will require more maintenance.

I was getting that an 02 CRF450 was a Gen3 from this thread
http://bannedcr500riders.com/board/view ... hp?t=11879.
Air box mod makes a lot more sense now. cut the cage out of the CRF box, attach CR250 front of airbox to plate, stick carb into boot, attach plate to air box. Once I am done, it will take a 99CR250 air filter then, correct?
I have seen threads where people have used silicone, but I have also seen some members here advise against this. What would be the best thing to use? I dont want to do this twice.
I kind of figured it wasnt a no-mod fit, or the clown that built the bike would have used the boot.
I just ordered one off of a 98 CR250, the part numbers were the same as per Honda parts fiche.
