All the rain we've gotten in the last 8 days did a great job of keepin the dust down, although it makes for some serious scrubbing after the fact.
We did Tomahawk saturday, the "C" loop. 42 miles of hell. Hills, ROCKS, ROOTS, sand, and being the groomer had been down the trail the day before, MUD. Yea, we're spoiled up here, some of the ORV $$ goes towards grooming our trail system, even though it only happens once a year. Rich rode the AC, Ben aboard his "badly in need of a rear tire" KX500, me and Jr on our 500's, a couple of my good bros from midirtriders on their 4 strokes, and these 3 other goofballs on KTMs that did nothing but hold up the line. Starting temp was about 50f, and climbed into the 60's before the loop was over. Tomahawk isn't a place you go ride at, its a place that you and your bike survive, if you're lucky. There are sooooo many gremlins that could ruin your day in a huge hurry. Some of the corners come down steep hills and make a sharp 90 about midway down. Meaning.....If you blow the corner, your ass is in serious trouble, cause those hollows is deep, and infested with all sorts of tangles and blowdowns. Chances are, it'll be a while before you'd get your bike outta there. It has its open, whooped out 60 mph straights, sections of goat trail that you pray end soon, and now that we got a lot of leaves on the trail, all those hidden branches and rocks that'll grab your wheels and put you of into the woods. I'm gonna get Brit out here next season and teach him how to ride so he can keep up with the rest of you.
Anyway, you absolutly, if ever any of you come out this way, have to put some time in here. You'll leave with a sense of accomplishment. Beautiful scenery, good trail.
So sunday we went to Frederic, Jr and I, and my 4 stroke bros, Casey and John. This is the only report on this ride that is worth talkin about......... About 8 miles in, Jr and I had to put the CR's into warp drive and high tail it back to the parking lot so I could bring the Jeep and trailer out to pick up Caseys YZ450F. Unfortunatly, it spit a countershaft seal, and being it shares oil between the engine and gear case, its either stop where you're at or burn it down. Bummer!
But hey, we got some time in, and it'll be great until the snow flys. 01 is much more luxurious with a fresh top end, but I gotta get that PWK on pretty soon.
