I am still searching the forums but have not found any solutions to the problem that I think I have created. If anyone has any input or suggestions or just wants to confirm that I have screwed up please let me know.
I am trying to mate an 86 motor to 91 cases and transmission. What I have found is the 86 has a shorter rod and the piston hits the case. I am thinking also that the piston won't rise to the top of the cylinder for proper compression? Can this be done or do I start looking for a newer motor?
86 motor in 91 cases, can it be done?

have the cases decked 5mm lower and make relief for the piston.
Guys do it.
Or you can get a long rod crank from 87-01
i'm guessing that your crankshaft is in good condition?
pm or email me, we'll get talking
