thanks

THE DENT....
but thats suposed to be the pipe to have
how much tho
the 450 will have less power and will be harder to start, and will be heavier, but to make up for it it will require more maintenance.

This month's MXA magazine answered someone's write in question about dents in a 2-stroke pipe. Their answer was that as long as the dents were 6 inches or more away from the cylinder, they wouldn't significantly affect performance.

They might as well make them with a dent there. Every one I have ever had has it. The only ones that aren't are on my Banshee. It would take a hell of a lick to get in there and dent those things though. lol
pstoffers wrote:LMAO...... That dent wont affect it....If that was the case FMF would have put it there..
Really? I was under the impression that FMF and all the other aftermarket companies were capitalists and wanted to maximize their profits versus their costs. The extra dent would cost them (and wouldn't look as pretty).
MXA claims to have run dyno tests back to back with new versus (intentionally) dented 2-stroke pipes. They claim that sometimes, the dent actually increased hp very slightly.

Dyno tests The dude runing the dyno can change the results with out touching the bike or car.... But hey what do I know. All My bikes are slowooooooooooooooooooo
MAPP gas is the yellow cylinder at the hardware store.
It's hotter, it works if you're not impatient.
As far as MXA goes, they sell magazines.
I don't really abide by their every word nor should anyone else.
I don't know, maybe I just prefer my shit to be in order.
It's a Jersey thing.

hmm ill have to look into it...
i agree i would much rather the dent not be there personally... ill have to look for some good pipe plugs while im getting my motor plugs to do my leak down test before firing this thing off....
or see if i can get the gnarly bent into shape so it will fit.....

ive never noticed power loss from a dent there, and the mxa tests looked legit, why would they dent 6 diffrent pipes and take pics, then make up some dyno #s?
i think the test was done on a 125sx so for the 500 its prolly the first 12 inches that matter most

Be sure to secure your plugs because they will shoot out with tremendous force.
You can get them on ebay or just build your own.
I can get you some pics of mine tomorrow or maybe someone else has some pics handy.
