how to get 75hp
I called and talked to dean is It? anyway 6k is some serious coin. yeah it would be badass but I don't think the trx motor mounts are the same a the cr500. if they were then maybe and that's a big maybe. so if it dosent you have to find a roller, trx botom end, mod the frame, drop 6k on the kit. by the time you are done you looking at 8k. imagine a 100hp 70lbs of torque street legal supermoto. haha that fucking nutz, but so is the grand total.

the atc250r botomend also works w/ that jug and has all the benefits of the TRX motor, but I'd bet it would fit in a bike chassis better.aloha450x wrote:I called and talked to dean is It? anyway 6k is some serious coin. yeah it would be badass but I don't think the trx motor mounts are the same a the cr500. if they were then maybe and that's a big maybe. so if it dosent you have to find a roller, trx botom end, mod the frame, drop 6k on the kit. by the time you are done you looking at 8k. imagine a 100hp 70lbs of torque street legal supermoto. haha that fucking nutz, but so is the grand total.

First I would look at the 85-86 ATC motor, same counter balancer and 6 speed. The mounts maybe closer than a newer TRX.
Then check the tranny gear ratios. What are the ATC 5th and 6th verses the CR 4th and 5th.
Would the trany be worth it at that point? Would the 6 speed make a AF more 125 like in shifting
One thing I do know is hitting 6th on that ATC and your flat out moving. Hope you know how to turn that thing.

Frank, the transmission shafts are the same diamiter as the 500's, they use the same thrustwashers and clips. The gears are different part #'s which makes me think the shafts must be arranged tighter together than a 500's but achieve the same ratios 1984-07 as the 1988-92 close ratio 500 trans like you have.

thanks adam!!! so now questions we have left. will it fit on a cr250 motor? and if so does the early model cr250 motors have the samemounts as say a 98. if it won't fit does the trx or atc have the same mounts as the cr250. doubt it but worth asking. if it does bolt on the cr250 will the trx crank fit in the cr250. if not then ya just need to swap rod with the saber rod. im sure I missed a few things. oh yeah where to get a spare 6k
just talked to neal.....nothing in the works for a cr500. second the saber cylinder won't fit he dosent think nobody has tried. plus the cr250 dosent have a counter ballencer. and the trx/atc bottom end does not share the front and lower mounts as a early cr250. so now we need measurements for a trx250 motor with a saber cylinder to see if it will fit.

I'm not sure how that all works, but you'll have to add some serious volume to the crankcase so it has enough to reach pressure in the cyl.

I didn't think you ever figure that outaloha450x wrote:well I do know these guys are jackings trans in sand I didn't think about on pavement where you get constant hookup. trans wouldn't last a week. you can have all the hp in the world if you can't get it to the ground its useless.

knowing how honda used the same platform for alot of thier stuff, i assumed the early cr250/250r probly had the same stud pattern, and from looking at the photos they looked the same to me. but i talked to a guy today about this subject and i guess the studs arent the same but i dont know. problem with this whole subject is we are at the mercy of 'hear say' because no one has both crankcases right in front of them to give a concrete answer.

I hate to say it but Freemer would know the answer. He has been running a big bore cylinder on a trx250 engine for more than a decade. I can tell you for certain that his trx 350 hauls ass and the bottom end has been rock solid. His buddy Allen Knowles designed the first big bore jug for the trx, and makes a power valve versions as well as a 370 kit for it.
Don't Clyde it, ride it!
