Yea I spent a bit of time trying to match the air straightner to intake. I realy wonder if the air straightner is more of a restriction than a helper, the hole in the straightner is quite small compared to stock reed cage inlet.

not sure why but mines the opposite. the plastic insert hole is bigger than the rubber intake hole.

i talked to mototassinari directly and they said theres only been one version ever made. my engine is '00 year. what do you meen "air straightener" ? you meen the insert piece that pops out of the reed cage ? like i said before, on mine the reed insert hole is bigger than the hole in the rubber manifold, so i had to grind alittle bit from the rubber manifold to make everything match up.

Which is the total opposite of what others had to grind, so it's clear that they did change the fawking thing! I hate lyers and I hate people that don't know the business they work for, but still give information over the phone that clearly comes out of the anus.

Yea its the insert. I am confused why yours would be different, mine is an 01. When I did mine back in august I assembled it off the engine and when I looked through the carb side of intake you could see the insert was smaller than intake rubber housing. I had to be real carefull when moding the insert not to loose the existing contour, thats when I thought it might be best just to leave it out, I am sure you would loose some bottom end but I would think the top end would increase. I guess I will have to try it out.

i can only tell you what they told me. i specifically asked them if there was a old/new version and they said no there has only been one version. i dont know why there is discrepencies. you can see how the insert is clearly bigger than the manifold hole which is fine because its easy to grind the rubber bigger.

I want to say that my insert for the VF3 was larger than the boot as well, but I don't even use the insert. I'll compare sizes when I get home just for fun.

Yes, that is the motor side of the manifold, with the insert on it, as it would sit in the motor. The reed assy doesn't need to be apart for the insert. It simply drops into the VF3 unit.
